Cowboy Song Lyrics
I am just a cowboy lonesome on the trail
A starry night, a campfire light
The coyote call, and the howling winds wail
So I'll ride out to the old sundown
I am just a cowboy lonesome on the trail
Lord, I'm just thinking about a certain female
The nights we spent together riding on the range
Looking back it seems so strange
Roll me over and turn me around
Let me keep spinning til I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go
Ridng in the rodeo
I was took in Texas I did not know her name
Lord, all these southern girls they seem the same
Down below the border in a town in Mexico
I got my job busting broncs for the rodeo
Roll me over and turn me around
Let me keep spinning til I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go
Running free with the buffalo
Here I go
Roll me over and I'll turn around
And I'll move my fingers up and down
Up and down
It's ok amigo
Just let me go
Riding in the rodeo
Roll me over and turn me around
Let me keep spinning til i hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go
Riding in the rodeo
Roll me over and set me free
The cowboy's life is the life for me
A starry night, a campfire light
The coyote call, and the howling winds wail
So I'll ride out to the old sundown
Lord, I'm just thinking about a certain female
The nights we spent together riding on the range
Looking back it seems so strange
Let me keep spinning til I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go
Ridng in the rodeo
Lord, all these southern girls they seem the same
Down below the border in a town in Mexico
I got my job busting broncs for the rodeo
Let me keep spinning til I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go
Running free with the buffalo
Here I go
And I'll move my fingers up and down
Up and down
Just let me go
Riding in the rodeo
Let me keep spinning til i hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go
Riding in the rodeo
Roll me over and set me free
The cowboy's life is the life for me

He's from england, yet he writes pretty damn well about the Wild Wild West
@Rapala46 He's from Ireland.

Actually Phil Lynott was born in Birmingham, but then moved to Ireland when he was very young
Lynott had a bit of an obsession with 'The dusty Romance' of the Wild West
This song is about that kind of business
My friends used to laugh at me for liking this song. I still think it's one of the greatest songs ever recorded. I don't even think the west or cowboys are cool, this song is just that good, it makes me look past the obvious ridiculousness of a half-black brit singing about cowboys and riding bulls and all that.
I think the meaning of this song is pretty clear: Phil Lynot wants to be a cowboy. Yes, the lyrics are a little silly, but when that second guitar solo comes in, I crap my pants every time.
Phil Lynott may have been born in Birmingham put that doesn't mean he was English. He said so himself he considered himself Irish in every way. Phil Lynott is IRELAND and thats that. By the way unreal song tha live and dangerous version is one the greatest songs of all time('',)
one of my favourites too, a band i was in used to cover this/boys are back in town, like on live n dangerous, it was well fun to play. and you know he's irish because on live n dangerous at one point he says something like "any girls in the audience got any irish in em?....would you like a little more?"
This is possibly my fav thin lizzy song. Listen to the version on live and dangerous (the best album EVAAAAR) Its amazing.
This song is amazing what an amazing gutair solo...Wow should be well more comments on this
Rapala you goof ball...Phil Lynott was from IRELAND!
