I'm Still Here Lyrics
I am a question to the world
Not an answer to be heard
Or a moment, that's held in your arms
And what, do ya think you'd ever say?
I won't listen anyway
You don't know me
And I'll never be what you want me to be
And what, do you think you'd understand?
I'm a boy, no, I'm a man
You can't take me, and throw me away
And how, can you learn what's never shown?
Yeah you stand here on your own
They don't know me, cause I'm not here
And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on, and feel I belong
And how, can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me, cause I'm not here
And you, see the things they never see
All you wanted, I could be
Now you know me, and I'm not afraid
And I, wanna tell you who I am
Can you help you be a man?
They can't break me
As long as I know who I am
And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on, and feel I belong
And how, can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They can't see me, but I'm still here
They can't tell me who to be
Cuz I'm not what they see
Yeah the world is still sleeping
While I keep on dreaming, for me
And their words are just whispers and lies
That I'll never believe
And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on, and feel I belong
And how, can they say I'll never change?
They're the ones that stay the same
I'm the one now, cause I'm still here
I'm the one, cause I'm still here
I'm still here
I'm still here
I'm still here
Not an answer to be heard
Or a moment, that's held in your arms

You don't know me

I can't believe no one has commented on this song. It's such a great song. I think it's talking about a person who has met someone that can understand that one person where the rest of the world can not. Everyone judges this person too soon and doesn't see him for what he actually is. Great song. Really able to relate.
it's Jim's song from Treasure Island and i heard that they actually picked John Rzeznik to write and sing this song because it's about Jim situation on how his father took off and how he's found a father figure in Silver and John's father walked out on his family so he would be able to put the right kind of emotion into it.. don't know how much truth is in that though
The Goo Goo Dolls are my favorite band. John is a great song writer, and I think this song is about how John sometimes feels he doesnt fit in with the world. In an Interview John says he was chosen to write a song for the movie "Treasue Planet", and he says he can really relate to Jim's character and his life, thats why he said it was so easy to write the song. This is a great song by John.
it's a song about being there, but having your opinions and thoughts completely ignored, being a no one cares, and when they do they say something's wrong with you, and you know thats its them with the problem
One of the best songs I've heard in a while... Rzeznik and the other members Goo Goo Dolls are excellent musician... I can't wait for their 9th! studio project!
cool song, but why can't it be found anywhere but that soundtrack to the dreadful treasure planet
(copied from myself) I think the song is about a guy who lost a girl because of his childishness & get's angry at her because he thinks it's her fault. He then later comes back wiser & realizes he wants her back,"All you wanted(before), I could be ".
He went From "I'm a boy, No, I'm a man" to "can you help me be a man?" after realizing he was being childish.
So I think it's about love lost & trying to get it back after you lost it.
at least thats what I'd like to think it's about
keep in mind the songwriter is Johnny Rzeznik and the song was written for the film Treasure Planet:
it's about a young man from a dysfunctional, broken family who is struggling with growing up and finding his identity, self confidence, meaning in life and his role in the world, similar to the theme of growing up in "Name".
Johnny Rzeznik came from a dysfunctional family with an absentee, alcoholic father (hence the song "Broadway"), very similar to how the character Jim Hawkins in Treasure Planet grew up fatherless, abandoned by his father as a child.
Through it all, he is "still here" and finds the confidence and peace within himself to stand on his own as a person and as a man.
watch the official music video on youtube or something and you'll see what i mean
This song is slightly rebellious. It sounds like it is saying that no matter how much the world tries to ignore him or tell him who he is, He continues to be who he wants to be...... He's still here, and is who he wants to be, and wants to be accepted for that.
