The Last Song From Zion Lyrics
(verse 1)
His shadow floats, upon the Earth
Casting a song from the north (upon the earth)
Jeshua weeps a zion song
Thy will of man
My kingdom gone
You place all your hatred upon my throne
Your hands form your own path
Curse the one that has made you
I see Cain in all your eyes
(Chorus)
I am laying down, to go to sleep forever
I do not hide my face in shame at all
I do not cower before your blade
This is what your black hearts pray
(verse 2)
Time, it moves as slow as the ocean's tide
Neon explosion, in the haggard sky, the sun shall set
Lest we foget, Man's will be done
(Chorus)
I am laying down, to go to sleep forever
I do not hide my face in shame at all
I do not cower before your blade
This is what your black hearts pray
The last lamb
The last hope

the basis of this album, you all must of read a thousand times before, is God leaves mankind. this song is God talking, explaining why he did what he did in leaving us.
yeah, if you get the concept of this concept album, this song becomes pretty self-explanatory. it's God's final words to us before he "goes to sleep forever". i think the line "I see Cain in all your eyes" is extremely powerful, because i can put myself in that place at times, and it kind of scares me to think "well, i know it's totally un-Biblical and would never happen... but what if it did? would God say the same to me?"
this song switches back and forth, from the "narrator", to god himself. god starts speaking with the line "thy will of man", and ends at "this is what your black hearts pray", and continues again with the chorus.
the last three lines, are just putting a title to the song, ending it with exactly what is happening.
the breakdown in this song is truly phenomonal. i also think that this is that the best song on The Funeral of God. everyone has already hit the nail on the head with the meaning, and i will admit the first time i heard of zao was on headbangers ball when i saw the video for the rising end (the first prophesy) and i thought they were some sort of anti-christ band. but when i did some research i found out about the theory of this album. then i really started to get into zao and all of their earlier stuff. i really like the album where blood and fire bring rest, their second best album.
Yeah, like always, God gives man a last chance, and of course man basically says "buzz off". Gods basically saying, its all about you now, so im gonna just leave. That last hope, is that man can realize how selfish he is and that we should begin to focus back on him.
