The Sword In The Stone Lyrics

So here we are, another star with out a car - you're gonna make it
Each bit of rot to its own slot, the cheapest shot was saying I faked it
And if that's all you make of your time
Then I'm not wasting any more explaining what I've made of mine
You better walk around, 'cause no one's gonna drive you home
So many shows, you've been below enough to know you shouldn't think it
Excalibur or your guitar? Do you think you are the Queen of England?
And your crying won't make you a dime
It's just like any other job where there gonna pay for your time
You better walk around, 'cause no one's gonna drive you home
I'm not impressed with your desire to be the biggest in the bowl
You'll still just be a little shit in a world that's just a big shit hole
You better walk around, 'cause no one's gonna drive you home

To me this song is about getting up on your own and making it. About being independent.

This song is a tale about a winging, big-headed, wannabe musician who accuses Ted Leo (presumably) of being a fake.

I think the line is:

"And your crown won't make you a dime..."

Makes more sense to me, considering the line before it.

he's just making fun of idiotic musicians. "pay you for your time" only gonna get paid for what your time is worth.

"i'm not impressed with your desire to be the biggest in the bowl"

he's just saying alot of musicians are wannabe's?

maybe? dunno.
