Photo Jenny Lyrics
I'm in a mess, I'm in a dress
There's nothing from here until tomorrow morning
How will I get there?
How will I get there? I don't do drugs
All my friends are on their holidays
I go outside, it's not so bad
I saw my friend and he couldn't believe that
The girls were holding hands
The girls are holding hands
Don't be a fool
It's 1995, the girls are just friends
They got the drugs I could use but then I don't want any
All that I want is a photograph of Photo Jenny
How will I get one? I don't know
How will I get one? I don't know
How will I get her to strike a pose?
It's getting cold, I'll catch the bus
I saw my friend when she's finished working
Get some fish and chips
What's on the box?
"Man About the House" with Paula Wilcox
You see the boy/girl's at the bar
Everyone thinks she's really ugly
But I shut my eyes
And make a film
And the star of it is Photo Jenny
There's nothing from here until tomorrow morning
How will I get there?
How will I get there? I don't do drugs
All my friends are on their holidays
I saw my friend and he couldn't believe that
The girls were holding hands
The girls are holding hands
Don't be a fool
It's 1995, the girls are just friends
All that I want is a photograph of Photo Jenny
How will I get one? I don't know
How will I get one? I don't know
How will I get her to strike a pose?
I saw my friend when she's finished working
Get some fish and chips

some of these lyrics are so morrisseyesque. "don't be a fool, it's 1995, the girls are just friends" is a hilarious line.
anyway this song is great. all their songs are great
Not only the lyrics, but their record/CD covers are right out of The Smiths style. That's not a complaint either!

The speaker is a transvestite or transgender. "Photo Jenny" is his female alter ego. I suspect the "drugs" are female hormones that could make him appear more female. Other lyrics refer to genderbending or queer sexuality, including the reference to "Man About the House", which is a sitcom in which a man pretends to be gay while living with two young women. The final verse cinches it, though. The boy/girl is a transvestite, transgendered person, or otherwise genderbending person, who inspires the speaker to think about his own female alter ego.
The singer is transgender. She wants to be seen as a real woman by men. She wants to be a model, hence "Photo Jenny" a play on photogenic.
i always thought the name "photo jenny" was a play on the word "photogenic"
it's about a girl/boy you once saw somewhere and you fell in love at a first sight and now you want to see her again but you've got noone to go out with and you are really desperate and so you get drunk and make out with the first girl that comes your way and you think of that girl you wanted to see... Unfortunatelly, it says nothing about the morning after...
