I Love My Car Lyrics

I love my car
I'll admit today that I've gone too far
To enamour myself of my little motor car

I love my dog
I love my pussy cat, I love the rat
That lives under the floor and makes his bed from novelettes

I wish I could say the same for you
The day will come soon when I look in your eyes
But I won't see you
I've got a head like a soaking sponge
I've got a tongue like a little slug
I won't be bugged by trivia

I love my Carl
I love my Brian, my Dennis, and my Al
I could even find it in my head to love Mike Love

I wish I could say the same for you
The day will come soon when I look in your eyes
To see you smiling

From the site's Q&As:

From: b Q.I was just recently listening to “I Love My Car” and it really hit me like never before, quite how mean that song is. Mind you, I’m sure it’s all very tongue in cheek, and I do so adore the song in question, but it got me thinking. It got me a bit depressed, really. I thought, “Do people really think about how they love inanimate objects and household animals more than their partner?” Don’t get me wrong here, in no way am I criticising the lyrics, but I was just wondering if this song was written while these upfront words were fresh and true. It is truly plaguing me how the song came to be. Falling out of love is not such a nice business, after all! At least, so I have come to believe. I’m quite young and perhaps ignorant, as I’m currently lucky enough to be in love for the first time (and loved back) and have therefore never fallen out of it (or had anyone fall out of it with me)! Maybe I'm just being silly?

A. well b, i think the thing is that when you find yourself tumbling bruised from a relationship, and you find a semblance of stability, sometimes you find yourself finding inordinate comfort in small, steady things, even investing them with a personality. I find myself doing that at the best of times, so when the shit really hits the fan love-wise, the warm embrace of four doors and three litres of engine becomes legendary.

hope you grow up wiser (than me)

for any other band, a song this clever and so inventive would be one of its peaks, but it's just a b-side! i love it. i love the old new orleans clarinet breakdown, the beginning, the end and the funny beach boys diss on mike love.

I hope and am pretty sure that the title is a play on "I Love My Jean", a song by Robert Burns (who lived close to where Stuart grew up). I love the line about the rat making his bed out of novelettes.

I've come off B

I meant to say, I've come off B&S since 2 years but this one popped into my head today and so I youtubed it and it's actually quite good. I've always liked sad songs sung cheerfully

"When I look in your eyes, to see you smiling" I guess after such a long time of forgetting who you're even living with, there's that renewed excitement of discovering a little gleam in their eyes again... just by chance, as you look up from the paper one day...
