Going Steady Lyrics
Oh you should see her now
We still love her now
She is going steady
But we're not ready
To see her fall in love
I know you are getting older
We should never turn our shoulder
I have never seen you suffer
I will never hurt you mother
(Repeat)
I will never make you suffer
I will never hurt you mother
We still love her now
She is going steady
But we're not ready
To see her fall in love
We should never turn our shoulder
I have never seen you suffer
I will never hurt you mother
(Repeat)
I will never hurt you mother

Sounds like a father having to say goodbye to his daughter as she prepares to get married or go to school or whatever. How hard it is to accept that you won't be able to protect her forever and that bad things can and will happen.
I think it's about a child's attitude to what their mother is gonna do after she's left a abusive partner/father. Like they don't mind what she does as long as she's happy and safe, because they've let her down and turned away when it's happened before.
It's a kid talking about his single mom dating. He doesn't really want it to happen but he wants his mom to be happy.
First song I've heard by them, pretty sure. I love it, and I don't get why it only has 3 comments haha. Pretty straightforward song. I love Death From Above.
I am in agreement with ndoc and fancyashley. Makes the most sense.
yeah, so totally. I just wanted to say that this so is the best song to sing along to :D
I feel like this song is about the parents seeing a girl ‘going steady’, with a lover or maybe a boyfriend, but they are not ready to see her fall in love. This is the first part of the lyrics. ‘She is going steady But we're not ready To see her fall in love’. They don’t want to let her go yet.
And then, there is also the other perspective, I guess, of the lover of the girl, who says ‘I will never make you suffer, I will never hurt your mother’. Means; I will never hurt you or your parents’. So it’s the lover trying to console her, and trying to pull her away from the grip of the parents.
We have the woman in the middle, feeling the two forces trying to pull her, I guess that’s what the song implies.
The music all in all is also really furious and aggressive, which might also be underlining the force of the emotions trying to pull the girl from one party to the other party.
