Seven Lyrics

Distracting from
your deficiencies
while you point at others.
(Once) enlightened
you judge and execute.

To be the only one
to discover the seven,
(To) toss open and pass
the gates to heaven.

(Solo: Muenzner)

lifx is totally off. if anyone else noticed the entire epitaph album deals purely with the issue of death. Every song in epitaph is about death and it's all metaphorical. No morbid lyrics in epitaph, that's what the onset of putrefaction was for, the morbid stuff. Suicmez is definitely going for a pure death metal and his lyrics are extremely technical. I think "thedeathofman" had it damn close when he said that it is basically describing a preacher or anyone who believes in heaven and is basing their beliefs upon conviction toward others. Im not sure if seven is a direct reference to the seven deadly sins. but I think "the seven" 7 if you look at the number seven it can be interpreted as a ladder to heaven. at which point there is a plateau where you would be if you supposedly were higher and found heaven. or even a beam from the heavens from god taking you above all else.

this part is about preachers and those with certain convictions against other's actions in life.

(Once) enlightened you judge and execute.

Once you learn the seven deadly sins or whatever YOU happen to CONVICT as a sin, you can then judge and execute.

To be the only one to discover the seven, (To) toss open and pass the gates to heaven.

To be the only one to discover the 7, that is again, the figurative number seven which looks like a pathway to above

I could be way off but I know in one way or another this song deals directly with death in some regard because all the other songs on this album do the same thing. Suicmez is brilliant either way.

LOL at stabwound666's response to lifx it made me keekle

My Interpretation

I'm pretty sure about the first verse. It's about someone who was once a respected person, but now is pointing his fingers at others for being blemished.

But I have no idea about the second verse. And what the heck stands "seven" for?

Here's my take on the lyrics:

I think they're about preachers/ Christian leaders in general. Basically the first verse refers to a preacher, who , despite his own personal issues, points out the flaws and short comings of others, condemning them to Hell for possibly many of the same "sins" he himself commits. Ted Haggard comes to mind... I believe the second verse refers to the preacher thinking he is the only one worthy of passing through the gates of heaven because he lives a "righteous" life because he has discovered the Seven (deadly sins).

well, aside from poetic meaning, 'seven' also refers to the intro/main riff which is in 7/8.

Haha, you are the only one to discover the seven

its actually in 7/4 time but you could probably hear it either way... music theory ftw

That's word.

Wow, respect to you, Lifx. Great interpretation. I guess it's not easy getting so much information from a short lyric like the one from "Seven". Again, my respect.

That'd make perfect sense if Muhammad Suicmez was an open christian and most of his lyrics suggested this. Too bad none of that is true.

Seven Churches.

i think this song has to do with nazi germany because...

Distracting from your deficiencies while you point at others. (Once) enlightened you judge and execute.

means the nazis blamed the jews for all of germanys problems and once the aryans were enlightened through the power of hitlers message they judged the jews inferior and executed them. im pritty sure of this because after all it is a very sensitive and important piece of german history and suicmez is german, well at least a german immigrant. the rest im not positive about but i know the nazis were protistant.

The seven are the seven deadly sins which the church fathers condemn people with. It has nothing to do with 777, which is actually Jesus, not the Christian god in general.
