Only Ash Remains Lyrics
Fear is never gone from your soul
that saw humiliation.
Being prey to the blackest of demons,
paralyzed you fail.
Fallen beneath
the mark of dignity,
you fail.
(A) demon passed on from one
to the next infiltrates
a mind innocent and pure;
planting the seed to possess
another soul that is doomed to fail.
Only Ash Remains
(Solos: Muenzner/ Suicmez/ Muenzner/ Suicmez)

Fallen beneath

Only Ash Remains

Easily my favorite Necrophagist song. Everything in it is perfect...
As for the meaning... whenever I read the text, I can't help but to think about the movie Evil Dead. In the movie, a couple of collage students goes on a vacation to a small cabin in the woods, where they accidentaly awaken an evil force. The force kills them one by one and turns them all into demons, until only one remains - the one named Ash.
EmmaExOh, the piece at the end is "The Montagues and Capulets" from Romeo and Juliet by Sergei Prokofiev.
Sorry, ignore that. Its "Dance Of The Knights" from Romeo and Juliet by Sergei Prokofiev.
Okay maybe its just me...but what the hell is that bit of music from that plays after 3:50mins? As soon as i heard it i knew id heard it before Anyways, good song. Loving it!
Wow, this is about Evil Dead. I never noticed
The solo at the start of this song is orgasmic.
A freaking awesome song indeed.
I originally thought of this song being about how the corrupt spread their suffering to the innocent, but what Varulf says is pretty spot on, too.
I say it's about your fear controlling you when trying a new experience, and you're paralysed so much, you inevitably fail. The past failure sticks in your mind, and you think you're no good, so you don't bother to try ever again.
hahahahaha I never noticed, but yeah i think this song is definitely an evil dead reference no questions asked. That's funny as hell I never thought of like that till i looked at this page. good call Varulf! you're probably right.
