Echo Lyrics
[Chorus:]
Echo,
Echo-ooo
We come and we go
No, I don't want to be just another
Echo
Echo-ooo
Everywhere I go
Something that I really need
Everyone I know
Someone that i want to be.
Even though,
I don't really know me,
I better pick it up
Before I let it slip away
I better stick it out
Before I take another day.
Hand to mouth,
and every single word I say, fades out.
[Chorus]
Can I open up your eyes?
Only when the clouds break
Can I feel alive?
Even though the world shakes.
Every night
Here in my quiet satellite.
Can I hold you close
'till we're out of focus
Everything I know
I don't even notice
When it all falls through
I'm here and I hear you.
[Chorus]
Do you hear me?
Do you hear me?
'Cause I need to, just to reach you
Can you hear me?
Come in clearly!
Am I hollow?
Just an echo?
[Chorus]
(Hello?)Echo
Echo-ooo
(Do you hear me?) We come and we go
(Hello?) No, I don't want to be just another
(Do you hear me?)Echo
Echo-ooo
It's just another day
And every single word I say, fades out.
Echo,
Echo-ooo
We come and we go
No, I don't want to be just another
Echo
Echo-ooo
Something that I really need
Everyone I know
Someone that i want to be.
I don't really know me,
I better pick it up
Before I let it slip away
I better stick it out
Before I take another day.
and every single word I say, fades out.
Only when the clouds break
Can I feel alive?
Even though the world shakes.
Here in my quiet satellite.
Can I hold you close
'till we're out of focus
I don't even notice
I'm here and I hear you.
Do you hear me?
'Cause I need to, just to reach you
Can you hear me?
Come in clearly!
Am I hollow?
Just an echo?
Echo-ooo
(Do you hear me?) We come and we go
(Hello?) No, I don't want to be just another
(Do you hear me?)Echo
Echo-ooo
And every single word I say, fades out.

A bittersweet plea for individuality.
i love this song! makes you want to be uniquoe
I think it speaks more to a failed relationship.. a lamentation of a love that just faded away..
i kinda agree with SavageMadrox. a guy doesnt want to be just an echo, a memory, he wants to be with her forever.
Like many have said before... love this song! It seems to be about a guy that liked this girl, but feels forgotten, like an echo fading into the distance.
I agree with the first two posters. I think it is about wanting to be unique and individual... and memorable not just something fleeting that fades away (like an echo). But as much as you want that there will always be pressures from either yourself or others to try to compare yourself and conform. My favorite line is "Everyone I know is someone that I want to be, Even though I don't really know me" I think at some point every young adolescent feels that way...so quick to feel bad about themselves and wish they were someone else when they don't even know themselves yet. Love the song.
to me this song means to not be a copy... when you scream in a cave or even in a bathroom or something, you hear an echo which is pretty much a copy of your original scream. i'm thinking the song means to not be the echo, even though we all feel like it sometimes, because the scream before us seemed so much better we'd rather try to be a copy of it then create our own scream. don't be a copy/echo. be original
I believe that in this song he is saying that he wil not be forgotten wherever he goes and whatever he says or does willl always be remembered and he will make sure of that.
i thin this song is about wanting to make a differenceor do something that will be remembered by all those people he's always been in the shadow of. it seems he's sayin he's like, the tag-along friend, the one who isn't really necessary, and he wants to become center stage, r at least become his own person, not just a shadow of others.
At first when I listened to this song, I thought it was about a broken relationship; How he wanted to be remembered, instead of just another guy. But now that I've really studied the lyrics, I feel as though there's way more to that. It's not just individuality in a relationship- it's individuality in general. My interpretation is that he doesn't want to live his life with society's rules and sayings. He wants to be the different one of the cult.
