Hatian Love Songs Lyrics

Interpretation of early black and white haitian love songs

Oceans wept
Mountains slept
Sidewalks crumbled to ash
Your name remains
In children's lullabies
And your eyes forever in the sky

Pull me close
Dear I'm tremblin'
Hold me tight
I'm afraid ot the night
Blackness fills the room
Your love burns bright

Oh summer winds
Remind me of your kiss
Soft and warm
I never want to leave this

I never wanted to say goodbye
I'd throw myself to the sea
If God promised you're inside
We'd float to island paradise
And I'd become your bride

The countryside looks bare
Without you lying in her grass
The stream is dry
And the crickets silent
There's no music in the night

I'd breathe my last breath
Just to mingle with your sigh
I'd become smoke
And hide in your cigarette pack

To be a star
Tossing light
To sparkle in your eyes
I'd become an angel
And kiss this earth goodbye

Destiny
Used to be
Just a word to me
But heaven sure was right
When they said Jesus left somethin' behind

Every inch of this body
I'd plate in gold for you
Even though I ain't go no money
I'd do it just to keep you

Your eyes appear
In every one of my dreams
They glitter and they gleam
Like the first time we meet

The chickens crowed
And I knowed your home
My spirit ran to greet you
Before my feet left the porch

i saw this band play with bright eyes and tilly and the wall. they are seriously so fucking amazing. the girl's voice is creepy. no other band sounds like this at all. i can't even describe it.

what are the numbers at the beginning of each verse?

Also, I don't think it's satirical at all. And it says "interpretation of early Black and White Haitian love songs" so I think they just translated ancient songs written in Haitian. And I don't think the Haitians were being sardonic either. Even if this was written by them originally, it doesn't sound like something they'd write sarcastically. Jesus Loves Me and By Your Side just drips with sarcasm... but not this.

I was introduced to them the same way. And I totally agree, they're so different from everything else, especially in concert.

Haitian is spelled wrong, it should look as i typed it perviously.

but i do enjoy this song, so much.

(previously is spelled wrong.) :)

this song holds nothing back, that's why i love it. more elements of absolute submission to love. being in the height of emotion and not monitoring what you say or how you feel, "your eyes appear in every one of my dreams".

it's much like their other songs though, in that the lyrics are highly dramatic and appear to be satirical. Especially with the mention of God, heaven and Jesus...

My Opinion

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be satirical, as a lot of their music is. Especially with the mentions of God, Jesus, heaven... rather pastoral styled writing
