Hurricane Lyrics
Somehow your hurricane envelops me in misty rain
Funny how your quiet pond can carry me like a rushing river
I don't want to come up now, I just want to stay submerged
Breathing water, sinking down, I just want to let it all drift away
Funny how your quiet pond can carry me like a rushing river
I don't want to come up now, I just want to stay submerged
Breathing water, sinking down, I just want to let it all drift away

Quite apart from having probably the most sumptuous music of any TFUL282 song, it has pretty interesting lyrics too, though the precise meaning escapes me at the moment. All I can think of is being with a person who always surprises you, or maybe your feelings are always out of sync with theirs. I think the narrator sees their presence as calming and safe, though using drowning as a metaphor adds a sinister edge to it - like he knows it's bad for him.
I agree with chrisrazor on all points - transcendent music that perfectly matches the lyrics, which are wonderfully open-ended.
Depending on one's perspective, it could be a wonderful relationship or highly dysfunctional. It reminds me of past experiences I've had with unstable girls when I was much younger and pretty naive ... it can feel wonderful and overwhelming at the same time. Certain people can suck you in to their drama if you don't have your own shit together. Or, this could just be a heartfelt love song, who knows haha.
Atter giving it more time to soak in, I definitely think this is about being enmeshed in a dysfunctional relationship. The lyrics fit perfectly and so does the music. This song is stunning and powerful.
