Two Headed Boy Pt. 2 (Live at Jittery Joe's) Lyrics
Daddy please hear this song that I sing
In your heart there's a spark that just screams
For a lover to bring a child to your arms that could lay as you sleep
And love all that you are like your boy used to be
Before he went and tore at your heart
Sister please with those wings in your spine
Love to be with a brother of mine
How he'd love to hide your tongue in his teeth
In a struggle to find secret songs that you keep buried deep in your eyes
Sounding only at night as you sleep
And in my dreams you're alive and you're crying,
As your mouth moves in mine, soft and sweet,
Rings of flowers 'round your eyes
Nineteen forty and five is really
Brother see we are one in the same
And you left with your head filled with flames
And you watched as your brains fell out through your teeth
Push the pieces in place
Make your smile sweet to see
Don't you take this away
I'm still wanting my tounge on your cheek
And when we break we'll wait for a miracle
God is a place where some holy spectacle lies
When we break we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place we will wait for the rest of our life
Two headed boy she is all you could need
She will feed you tomatoes and radio wires
And retire to sheets safe and clean
But don't hate her when she gets up to leave
In your heart there's a spark that just screams
For a lover to bring a child to your arms that could lay as you sleep
And love all that you are like your boy used to be
Before he went and tore at your heart
Love to be with a brother of mine
How he'd love to hide your tongue in his teeth
In a struggle to find secret songs that you keep buried deep in your eyes
Sounding only at night as you sleep
As your mouth moves in mine, soft and sweet,
Rings of flowers 'round your eyes
Nineteen forty and five is really
And you left with your head filled with flames
And you watched as your brains fell out through your teeth
Push the pieces in place
Make your smile sweet to see
Don't you take this away
I'm still wanting my tounge on your cheek
God is a place where some holy spectacle lies
When we break we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place we will wait for the rest of our life
She will feed you tomatoes and radio wires
And retire to sheets safe and clean
But don't hate her when she gets up to leave

I definitely liked the Aeroplane version better, but still the new version of the song got me hooked on them again, so I like it.
he said it's unfinished, and will probably stay that way. i wonder what would finish it..
The artist is never satisfied so that art is never finished, only abandoned.

I love love love this version, as well as the Aeroplane one. Hearing both just adds to the story. "Love all that you are like your boy used to be Before he went and tore at your heart..." We know it was long ago, but what happened to the boy?
I think Jeff might be saying "1940 and 5 is relief". It has always sounded like he was saying that to me, and it seems to fit in the sense that while Anne Frank died that year, it was a relief that the suffering she went through was over.
This actually isn't a new version. Though it wasn't released until 2001, it was actually recorded in March 1997. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea wasn't released until February 1998, so the Aeroplane version of the song is actually the completed version of the song.
When I sing this (which is too often), I always use this version's "sister" instead of blister. It gets most the whole family in there- eveyone sans mom.
And maybe a lame note I can add is that everyone should learn the 5-6 chords on guitar and sing Mangum's songs to yourself. I read somewhere he wanted his music to be a 'force for healing' or something, and it's like therapy to sing these songs, like I'm singing them to my own family.
Some of these lyrics are incorrect so I've made some changes. Lets see if they are accepted. I really think that this version of the song is more honest than the album version. I feel like Mangum hid his meanings under a few veils of abstraction and since the song was still in construction when this was recorded we get a deeper insight into what these words really meant to Mangum before he polished it for the album. Of course I could be wrong, but I think of all his songs "Two Headed Boy Part 2" is (or was) the most special to him.
