great song; very 'revolution summer' dc influenced. definitely an 'early' song. you can tell they wrote this one under the influence of stuff like embrace, rites of spring, maybe even reptile house (pre-lungfish) etc.
definitly, it was on their demo tape. very angst-ridden song too. but still great.

"underneath your hand would be me" is actually "And in your head would be me" But this song is incredible. I love it.
to me this song is about being true to your self and your emotions.personally,the word determination rings out../self-preservation......and instead of faults baby....it was: your seeing false vision.
I'm pretty sure this song is about indigenous peoples and their temporal dislocation. To most Americans, they're dead, a thhing of history, yet they walk among us, striving to hang on to culture in a 21st century that is still trying to undo the Indian despite cheap one-way multiculturalism. Thus, the idea of being stuck in a hospital, dying under glass that brings to mind the observation of mere artifacts. It also captures the conflicted emotions about whether people want validation of their existence, or whether the BIA and other people ever will.. or can, give a damn.
