Kiss Alive II Lyrics
About the funniest guy I know
Sad to see you go
So glad we made it
So glad we stayed friends after all
Peavey amps and Roto toms
Butchered our favorite songs
No harm in trying
We had fun trying after all
I gave you Bennie and the Jets
You gave me Kiss Alive II
I gave you Bennie and the Jets
You gave me Kiss Alive II
Down in the basement after school
Girlfriends by the pool
So sure we'd make it
Looks like we made it after all
(chorus)
My friend Todd it's not another day for you
You've got a little girl to show
Who the world belongs to
And I'm so proud of you now
(solo)
So glad we made it
So glad we stayed friends after all
Sad to see you go
So glad we made it
So glad we stayed friends after all
Butchered our favorite songs
No harm in trying
We had fun trying after all
You gave me Kiss Alive II
I gave you Bennie and the Jets
You gave me Kiss Alive II
Girlfriends by the pool
So sure we'd make it
Looks like we made it after all
You've got a little girl to show
Who the world belongs to
And I'm so proud of you now
So glad we stayed friends after all

After watching BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, this song reminds me a lot of the series.
Erm.. as for the song.
Since it's mentioning Todd, who I can only assume is Todd Foulsham, the drummer who founded the group with Mike Viola - the song must be about his leave from the group somewhere in the 90's. He did, however, come back with him to perform on Hang On Mike, and Kiss Alive II is on the album, so it's talking about their pasts and reminiscing about the old days: They were just two kids dreaming of making it big, and in the end, in their perspective, they did.
Bennie and the Jets is a single by Elton John, and (Kiss) Alive II is a live album by Kiss. I'm not entirely sure what the meaning behind them is- It obviously has something to do with different tastes, though. I don't think you'd expect a Kiss fan to also be an Elton John fan, or vice-versa.
So, despite their musical differences, they "stayed friends after all". The only part about the song I feel isn't exactly self-explanatory is the third verse. "You've got a little girl to show / who the world belongs to / and I'm so proud of you now" - Does Todd have a daughter? Perhaps a girlfriend? Lack of info on the band itself is frustrating...
