The Ice Storm, Big Gust, and You Lyrics
Well, I swear that you came in the form of rain
That had frozen somewhere along its way through the evening sky
So the trees got tired and laid on the ground
Well I swear you marched in like big gusts of wind
Oh, cutting through our clothes
Such an easy attempt to convince us
There is no reason we should be outside
When you speak, it's like fire
The sparks leap from your mouth
And all your talk of such burdens
No, it won't bring me and all my friends down
Well, I swear that you spilled into my room last night
Oh, covering me in sheets so tight that I didn't move
I just laid around until the early afternoon
So now we're at the bars hypnotized
And trying hard to keep the conversation going
Trying hard to ignore the silence growing like it always does
Yeah, I know, so we better get running
And all your thoughts, they're so tired
Your bullets won't take aim
And oh your face, it's so stern now
No we won't be scared
No we won't back down
We will sing pretty songs about love
And we will fight if that's what it takes
And we won't back down
No we won't shut our eyes and go to sleep
We will write all over your walls
And we will dance to no music at all
We will do what it takes to get through to you
That had frozen somewhere along its way through the evening sky
So the trees got tired and laid on the ground
Oh, cutting through our clothes
Such an easy attempt to convince us
There is no reason we should be outside
The sparks leap from your mouth
And all your talk of such burdens
No, it won't bring me and all my friends down
Oh, covering me in sheets so tight that I didn't move
I just laid around until the early afternoon
And trying hard to keep the conversation going
Trying hard to ignore the silence growing like it always does
Yeah, I know, so we better get running
Your bullets won't take aim
And oh your face, it's so stern now
No we won't be scared
No we won't back down
And we will fight if that's what it takes
And we won't back down
No we won't shut our eyes and go to sleep
And we will dance to no music at all
We will do what it takes to get through to you

I love this..
the form of rain big gusts of wind it's like fire
it's gorgeous.. don't you think? all of their songs are so incredible.. incrypted or not.
i especially like the first verse
fuck 'nights of the living dead' this is tilly & the wall's best song
it's message about simply loving and staying happy in the faces of aversity is the whole reason why i find myself drawn to the band in the first place. sure, it's not SELF-DESTRUCTIVE and MAUDLIN, so it can't be a masterpiece.
tilly and the wall is about love. get over it.
hey watch what you say about nights of the living dead. i always thought tilly and the wall was more of a ode to youth and crazy kids doing pointless stuff until they grow up with somebody. Its a simple concept really, one i most enjoy and have been waiting for a band to project.
tilly tilly tilly, what would we do without you?
favourite tilly song. can't wait for the new cd.
Haha, i agree, Nights of the living Dead is overrated in my opinon. "God put down your gun, can't you see were dead" and "The microphone cut off so were screaming at the top of our lung" are to amazing lines, but the rest of hte song is just meh for me.
Fell down the Stairs is my fav song personally.
Anyways, to me this is just about the passion of a new relationship. The first couple of weeks of being together... its awkward, your still figuring each other out, but your totaly engrosed in each other and are full of optimizim towards the future, that you can conquer anything.
our omaha scene owns yours. mhm.
i love going to shows and casually seeing the tilly kids. everyone should pretty much move to nebraska.
This song is very clearly about rebellion (few of their songs aren't, haha), addressed to the adults in his life. They just want to live out their youth to the craziest and most beautiful extent and they don't care what the grown-ups say.
