In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
Everything is fine

In Heaven
Everything is fine
You got your good thing
And I've got mine

In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
Everything is fine

In Heaven
Everything is fine
You got your good thing
And you've got mine

In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven

In Heaven
Everything is fine
You've got your good thing
And you've got mine

In Heaven
Everything is fine

General CommentI always thought this song was about nihilism and unfairness of the world. The speaker starts out pretending that everything is just peachy---you have your good thing and he has his. He should be content and happy, but he can't be. Someone else will always have his "good thing" even in the most perfect scenario. "Heaven" is a final destination, so if unfairness exists there it will never be corrected. By the end of the song his fake happy face erupts into rage at the truth & injustice of it all.

Could be referring to the end of a relationship, too. Like he's trying to play it cool after being dumped, but in reality the ex will have her good thing PLUS his.

I love this song because it succinctly drives home the general unfairness of life we have to accept. I heard it before I ever knew about Eraserhead, so this has been my take from long ago.
