Real Time Lyrics

so many nights have passed me now
those giddy lights they chased me down
all frozen time
is melted in an early sun
does anybody know me now?
did anybody notice how?
always leaving at an early hour
'yeah, take good care, i'll see you around'
'oh hey, hi'
every little eccentricity
and all the little things that have stayed with me
all of my electric memories
spread across my head like some hot disease
every single thing that i said to you
every little thing that i tried to do
not on one thing does this life depend
so tonight i'm gonna see where this darkness ends
‘cause i'm drowing in unforseen circumstances
drowing in unforseen circumstances
in real time

Cover art for Real Time lyrics by Art of Fighting

This song to me is about being memories being burned into our mind, and living through the pain of loss...

"So many nights have passed me now Those giddy lights they chased me down All frozen time Is melted in an early sun Does anybody know me now? Did anybody notice how? Always leaving at an early hour 'Yeah, take good care, I'll see you around' 'Oh hey, hi' "

Is the protagonist drinking themselves to oblivion every night? Just wanting to be noticed, but having nothing more than cursory conversations with the regulars and bar staff?

"All of my electric memories Spread across my head like some hot disease Every single thing that I said to you Every little thing that I tried to do Not on one thing does this life depend So tonight I'm gonna see where this darkness ends"

The memories are painful and swimming around in their head, so they'll continue to drink themselves stupid to push through the pain. "see where the darkness ends" is taking it to the extreme in a spiral of self-destruction.

"'Cause I'm drowning in unforeseen circumstances Drowning in unforeseen circumstances In real time"

They are experiencing the pain and anguish in real time, but also living in real time... second by second as the clock ticks away.

My Interpretation

Reminds me a lot of "This Place is a Prison" by The Postal Service too...
