this song is amazing. I love the first line of this song especially. There is something about the way he says it that makes it special.

i'd say the meaning is fairly obvious. just generally well written.
i agree. this song is amazing. the strings at the end nearly bring tears. i get like that sometimes if a song is really that beautiful!
one question though, who do you think he's talking to?
I don't know for sure.
Obviously there's the boyfriend/girlfriend scene, a possible and logical subject for the song. However, some aspects leave you feeling as if he is talking to himself. I think it's very clever if that was the intention, because it's hard to do that effectively. Really, it's pretty general and open for interpretation.

yeah, i agree with you. it could go so many ways-- he could be talking to a lover, to himself, etc. What if he's (not necessarily the singer, but the speaker) talking to a parent?
if i used this for myself, it would be directed towards myself. i'm always moving from place to place hoping to find a fresh start.
