I think this song is just a bunch of good artists on a side project having some fun singing about their favorite dessert. I remember at a concert once Jeff Tweedy was talking about how the audience was a bad audience because the one the night before had brought him pecan pie.
Jeff has also said during live shows that this is definitely the best song he has ever written.
