We Lyrics

You've come so far weary child
We can feel the ache in your bones
You've been dragging so long
They never spoke your tongue

We will shelter you
There will be no more ridicule
We will love you always
It can be this way if you come home

You were in a spin front to back
You would wonder if you were wrong
You felt lost in space
But everything is as it should

We knew this all along
We promise you

We will shelter you
There will be no more ridicule
We will love you always
It can be this way if you come home

This is an incredible song. I first heard it on an episode of CSI, and after searching tirelessly for it, i finally found out what it was. To me, the song is talking about someone who just feels like they've been trying so hard for so long at life, and just can't seem to get it right, and then finds someone (or something) that accepts them. The underlying lesson is to have faith that we are all here for something ("Everything is as it should")

@big99daddy I agree it is a fantastic song, and it’s fantastic written lyrically also.

To me, this is a love song to a child with autism.

You've come so far weary child - you've had to struggle to learn what you know how

We can feel the ache in your bones - we understand how hard it has been for you

You've been dragging so long - and we know how long this journey has been

They never spoke your tongue - other people have misunderstood you

We will shelter you - you are safe with us

There will be no more ridicule - no more abuse from people who don't understand

We will love you always - nothing you say or do will push us away

It can be this way if you come home - not literally coming home... opening up to people and learning to communicate

You were in a spin front to back You would wonder if you were wrong You felt lost in space But everything is as it should - this all feels like reassurance that it's ok to be who you are

This song is just beautiful.

My Interpretation

@mashers it is incredibly balanced and just I want to say divine. Anyhow, I think you’re the warmest in the hot and cold game here, however, you still filtering it through an individual who believes in who they are as someone. What he’s getting that is further and further, we choose to believe in our individuality, the further and further away from feeling accepted, loved, adequate relaxed, unconditionally infallible. And that’s just the associated negatives that wind up dissolving away along with the idea that I am someone you’re someone. Soo there are two someones present. Drop that...

Maybe it says something about my paranoid, untrusting personality, but to me this song sounds like a cult trying to lure a fragile and vulnerable person into their "family". The hypnotic nature of the music itself makes me think of brainwashing. "You're weak and weary. We will take care of you and love you if you join us. Never mind the plan to eat apple sauce with a dangerous combo of drugs to catch that comet we are going to take a ride on" lol

@Cdevaney I know what you’re saying. I sort of got that feeling just the first time Read through with the song, but I think I know why I got that feeling after further review it’s just the way the verses end with the freezing you can be this way too if you just come to us or it sounds like if you just come home. But I had had an understanding for what all was said. I just heard a piece or two definitely had me thinking maybe this laying out of the hard road and easy road for another....

It sounds like aliens are the ones accepting him, maybe I just think that because of the mysterious vibe I get from hearing this song. I love this song.

I think this song is about a child who grew up with a bad family life and no parents. He/she has had to go through life without parents and there fore feels lost, angry, and confused. They have trust issues because of this and now some one (foster/adoptive parents) is extending their hand to help give the child the love and guidance it needs. Children aren't supposed to grow up without parents but now that the "we" mentioned in the song has come into the child's life that child no longer has to go through life alone....

Sounds like parents of a runnaway teen. The parents ridiculed him before and they are sorry.
