Golly Sandra Lyrics
G-g-g-golly Sandra
You've grown up really crazy
Have I been too denying of you
G-golly Sandra
You've grown up so crazy
Have I been too untrusting
To take me down to the bridge
Where you know that I've always loved you
And I'll go without stopping
Oh, you are my star
And that's not really far
Hey hey
Golly Sandra
You've grown up really crazy
Have I been denying of you
To take me down to the bridge
Where you know that I've always loved you
And I'll go there without stopping
Oh, you are my star
And that's not really far
Hey
Well I guess I should have been around to sing you to sleep
You look so beautiful it hurts me slightly
Oh
Oh you are my star
And that's not really far
Hey
Oh you know that I have tried so hard
For you, for you
You've grown up really crazy
Have I been too denying of you
You've grown up so crazy
Have I been too untrusting
Where you know that I've always loved you
And I'll go without stopping
And that's not really far
Hey hey
You've grown up really crazy
Have I been denying of you
Where you know that I've always loved you
And I'll go there without stopping
And that's not really far
Hey
You look so beautiful it hurts me slightly
Oh
And that's not really far
Hey
For you, for you

i think i read once on the eisley forum that it's "star" and not "scar". yup, straight from boyd's mouth, so to speak.
this song could be from a sister's point of view, too, not playing with your little sibling and such, and regretting it later.
i'm not sure these are exact because i played them by ear.
but anyway this is one of my new favorite eisley songs. i love the country-esque sound about it. in the vaguest of terms it seems to be about someone you neglected but didnt do it intentionally and now regret it.
It sounds to me that a guy is saying this about a girl that he never seemed to see as the complete person she is now. Now that he can fully see her, he realizes he loves her.
I think it's from like a mother's point of view, and her kid turned out "bad" and she's blaming herself.
Yeah, I agree with americanmusic.
"Golly, Sandra, you've grown up really crazy Have I been too denying of you?" -Wow! You've grown up a lot. You've done a lot of bad things. Is it my fault?
Shouldn't it be "oh, you are my star"?
i thought it was star too. but it says scar in the cd booklet.
I agree with americanmusic, it seems to be about a parent-child relationship.
I think "grown up so crazy" means "so fast". It doesn't seem like Sandra is a problem child -- the song has a cheerful sound, and asks Qs like, "Have I been too denying/untrusting of you?" (if Sandra was bad, then it might've been "Have I been too trusting of you?").
I thought it was star, too. Does anyone know what those 2 lines mean? This is a wild guess, but maybe "you are my scar" = "the guilt I carry around from not watching you grow up is like a scar".... and "and that's not really far" = "but at least, even when you leave the nest, I'll always feel that scar and it'll keep you close ot me (somehow)". That was straight outta my you know what. I LOVE Eisley!!
i think it's a parent or figure admiring the child and how they turned out and wondering "did i do this? is he/she like this because of me?"
sherry sings this one dosent she?
