Lemon Meringue Pie Lyrics
Pulled into town about a quarter to three
Singin’ songs from Spain at the top of my lungs
She said hey babe when she saw it was me
I went lookin’ for her
She was looking for fun
Dancing in the kitchen with a wooden spoon
I couldn't see what she was makin from the other side of the room
I took a step inside and made myself a part of that night
Derek came home and we played guitar
Sam I am and star you are
She said, you always gotta read the box
But you always gotta read me right
Chorus
We made some lemon meringue pie
It sucked but anyway I
Would make it with you again anytime
We ate your lemon meringue pie
I suppose that I shouldn't lie
It's the only reason I came by tonight
We listened in her room to a song about shame
On you on me and on every little thing
Playin' with the words on the tip of my tongue
But that ain't all I can do with the tip of my tongue
Lickin’ the lemon filling as it drips down the long neck of my beer
Everyone was laughing
But you just smiled from ear to ear and said
You always gotta read the box
But you always gotta read me right
Chorus
Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring would be like with you in my arms
She said, you always gotta read the box
But you always gotta read me right
Chorus

lol i think this song is a metaphor or something like that for sex haha
I would agree, that this song is meant to be a metaphor for sex. I think it's really catchy and I like it, but I think the lyrics/story could have been crafted a bit better. Other people and random references were thrown into the mix which makes it kind of confusing. It isn't quite the: "I know that you know that I know what we're both talking about here,” sort of cute cleverness, but it's a fun song nonetheless. There are good parts. I like it. That's about it.
It really isnt about sex at all its a personal expierence hes had (hence all the names he used) Its just him telling a story about a time he made some pie with this girl and him and a bunch of his freinds just hanging out. Thats what he is, a story teller. He really is an amazing person as well as a musician, he toured across Canada on his bike playing at shows werever he could find them!
i love this song.. it's amazing and my family told me that they watched and interveiw with Mr. Fisher and he said that it was actually about pie.. and i love it and i was just wonderin how all of you know so much about him? i mena i hung out with him for 2 hours and i don't even know that much...
this song is so fun. I don't know why but I'm obsessed right now.
SunFest August 26th, 2006 Interview
The incidents in this song actually happened to Jeremy quite literally. “After I’d written the song I realized that it’s the ultimate metaphor for teenage sexual experimentation,” Jeremy reflects. “That awkward, wonderful time, when you live your life in constant anticipation of discovering yourself and what lies ahead.”
