Q&A
Me and Emily Lyrics
floor board is filled with
baby toys and
empty coke bottles and
coffee cups
driving thru the rain with no radio
tryin not to wake her up
cell phone says low battery
god what if i break down
im just lookin for an exit with a
lot of lights a
safe little interstate town
just a cheap hotel
with a single bed
and cable tv
is good enough for me and emily
some day when she's
old enough she's gonna
start asking questions about him
some kid at school brings his dad
for show and tell
and he gets her little mind a-wonderin
where's my daddy?
do i have one?
does he not love me like you do?
oh, maybe ill find someone to
love the both of us
and ill tell her when she's old enough to
know the truth
will it break her heart?
will she understand
that i had to leave?
that's what was best for me and emily
the house was never clean enough
his dinner never warm enough
nothin i did was ever good enough to make him happy
so i guess he gave me what he thought i deserved
but it would kill me if he ever
raised his hand to her
big rigs are throwin
rain on my windshield and i
feel like they're laughin at me
finally the storm is
lettin up and the
mornin is breakin free
its a brand new day
its a second chance
yesterday is just a memory
for me and emily
floorboard is filled with
baby toys and
empty coke bottles and
coffee cups
least there's one good thing that he gave me and she's
startin to wake up
baby toys and
empty coke bottles and
coffee cups
driving thru the rain with no radio
tryin not to wake her up
cell phone says low battery
god what if i break down

I love this song alot, It means so much to me... I can't belive I'm the first to post. I love Rachel Proctor voice too.
This song's really sad; but it's kind of obvious what its about. If that has to be explained...you're dumb.
i love how the mother sees the positive in her failed relationship through her child... no matter the circumstances a child is always a gift
I love how she acknowledges everything that's happened.. and she's still positive about the future. How a safe hotel and cabel TV is good enough for her and her daughter.
I also love the last line. Her ex gave her something good through all the bad. He gave her Emily.
