Definitely one of my favorite songs off Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart! I always figured it was about doing something stupid and extreme for a stupid and irrational reason - see "burn down the house/there's a devil in the closet." There are also lots of references to history repeating, blahblah. I think it's pretty obvious. This song always makes me think of religious crusades and that episode of Strangers With Candy where Jerri's stepfather can't make it to Career Day because he has demons in his head that need to be removed by a licensed medical professional.
