You're Just a Baby Lyrics
You're just a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek and then go off to school
You're just a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek before you know what's cool
You will be leaving in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
You will be working in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
Refrain:
There must be a reason for all the looks we gave
And all the things we never said before
So what's the score?
'Cause there must be a reason for all the looks we gave
And all the things we never said before, before
You're such a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek before you know what's sweet
You're just a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek before you go to sleep
You will be working in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
Yeah, you will be crying in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
Refrain
You're such a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek before you go to sleep
You're such a baby, baby girl
So let go of my hand so we can get some sleep
you will be crying in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
'Cause you will be married in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
Refrain x2
So kiss me on the cheek and then go off to school
You're just a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek before you know what's cool
You will be leaving in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
You will be working in the morning
And I won't be there to see you go off your head
There must be a reason for all the looks we gave
And all the things we never said before

'Cause there must be a reason for all the looks we gave
And all the things we never said before, before
So kiss me on the cheek before you know what's sweet
You're just a baby, baby girl
So kiss me on the cheek before you go to sleep
You will be working in the morning

Yeah, you will be crying in the morning

I think he is talking about a girl who has been interested in him although she's got a partner It seems like he is warning her that he can go further than looks and kisses if she wants but he won't take any responsability on that.
i really love this song. i've noticed not many people seem to like it that much though.
well, i like it... and the lyrics here are not correct, they re mixed up at the beginning, but it's ok... at the end instead they re missing a line: ..."cause you will be married in the morning and i won't be there to see you go off your head"...
I've taken this to be in the perspective of a parent referring to his/her daughter, knowing that she's not going to be sweet and young forever; she's going to go off to school, she's going to get a job, and she's going to get married some day. However, this theory doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you account for the chorus.
When I listen this song, I imagine a man with 30, 40 years and a young girl about 18. He knows that dating her is kind of wrong, but he likes and wants to "help" her teaching life lessons. This help maybe an excuse for all he did.
I always picture a slightly older guy who knows that he and a younger girl have a sort of connection, but they are not allowed to admit. He is realistic about things, hence he only allows her to metaphorically kiss her on the cheek before she goes to school, but he is addressing the situation with her because he needs to know for certain where he stands. He knows that life will move on for her but that he will not be allowed to see her through it, so he needs her to let him know 'what's the score' on the grand scheme of things.
At least, that's how I hear it.
Sounds like it\'s about grooming. The singer is grooming a girl who is still in school.
It sounds like it's about a dramatic and immature woman. Perhaps they get together (maybe for just a night) and he realizes this and won't be around in the morning (he's leaving her).
