Swinging London Lyrics

I read your manifestoes
And your strange religious tracts
You took me to your library
And kissed me in the stacks

Planets crash, world goes nova
Sun explodes, all goes black
You went off swinging London
And forgot to come back

You couldn't grok my race car
But you dug the roadside blur
You weren't into my airplane
But you loved the whirling world

Planets crash, world goes nova
Sun explodes, all goes black
You went off swinging London
And forgot to come back

Baby, come back

Sounds like a song about being in love with someone and then finding out they didn't love you as much. But is there anything more to it than that? The astronomy references? The strange "grok" jargon usage?

haha 'grok' is a word that Robert A. Heinlein uses as a Martian word in his sci-fi novel 'Stranger in a Strange Land'. to grok means to understand fully. to grasp fully to be. he often uses the phrase, "thou art god' which is very eastern phylosophy type.

that 'you' did not grok the magnetic field's race car means you can't comprehend it.

that is all i know. but i realllly need to know more about this song!!! tis vair vair important in my life. i do not grok this song. seems random, but who knows?

I think it's a "quick fall in love" song between two individuals with a two very different world views. You don't have to be perfect to be loveable! But in the long run it won't work. "baby, come back. I'll change, as long we still make the world go nova, and not the sun go black". She saw the sun exploding.
