A Song For Departure Lyrics
And all the masks I carry on my face
For you for another some calm and then some grace
But once within a long and broken night
A face like mine bereft of dreams and white
This is a song
(This is a song)
A song for departure
This is a song
This is a song
(This is a song)
A song to take you homewards
This is a song
Maybe this strangeness only ever was
To hide ourselves from some kind of happiness
But always the moment it just seems to stay
Tearing it off like so many calendar days
This is a song
(This is a song)
A song for departure
This is a song
(This is a song)
A song to break you heart to
This is a song
This is a song
(This is a song)
A song for broken lovers
This is a song

Probably the best song off the great and hugly underrated Lifeblood album.A beautiful and a very tender song about breaking free from the masks we put on our faces for people to accept us and to simply fit in the mould.
@Joekubrick It's a no brainer best song off the album, that I like less than any other album Manics ever wrote.

reminds me a little of california dreaming. But no way the best song off lifeblood, I'd say the best are 1985, empty souls, and to repel ghosts.
@Mortonium Ice Every time I hear 1985, I badly feel that other well-known "year-named" songs are so much better, that I can't really jump into year 1985. In this kind of terms TSP "1979" or even Blunt's "1973" no doubt are better than "1985". So, "A Song For Departure" is the no brainer best song off the "Lifeblood".

It's definitely one of my favourites. Gorgeous song, I love it. And Joe, I think you're pretty close.
