Satellite Lyrics
Soon a man will kneel to pray
Soon the light will burn our shade
And with the sweet the bitter fades
So take my heart and take your place
Cause I will be your force
And I will be your right
And I will watch over you like a satellite
Soon reason will have rhyme
Soon wisdom will imply
And with courage doubt subsides
So take my heart and take my pride
Cause I will by your voice
And I will be your right
And I will watch over you like a satellite
And I will be your sword
And I will be your might
And I will watch over you like a satellite
River will flow from scenes unknown
I'll guide you through by the love I'll show
And the stars will wish upon the night
That they could have a guiding satellite
And I will be your sword
And I will be your might
And I will watch over you like a satellite
And I will be your days
And I will be your nights
And I will watch over you like, just like a satellite
Just like a satellite
Soon the light will burn our shade
And with the sweet the bitter fades
So take my heart and take your place
And I will be your right
And I will watch over you like a satellite
Soon wisdom will imply
And with courage doubt subsides
So take my heart and take my pride
And I will be your right
And I will watch over you like a satellite
And I will be your sword
And I will be your might
And I will watch over you like a satellite
I'll guide you through by the love I'll show
And the stars will wish upon the night
That they could have a guiding satellite
And I will be your might
And I will watch over you like a satellite
And I will be your days
And I will be your nights
And I will watch over you like, just like a satellite
Just like a satellite

Coheed, thanks for the info. I was thinking it could be about Anyone you love and care for. The satellite reference made me think that someone was being loved and cared for from a long distance...
I was also at the Park City show and it was awesome. They played this and he did say it was about his son. But it mainly just says how he will protect him, whenever his son needs him he'll be there, whatever he needs him to be, he'll be. Soon everything will make sense for his son, and his son will know why he does the things he does as he gains more wisdom and he hopes his son will have courage to do things in life.
God, this song is amazing. You can tell Ed really loves his son. He wants his son to know he'll always be there, watching over him, no matter what.
I think it's important to note that although Ed wrote this song specifically for his son, it could also be applied to anyone for whom you love and care about. I'm only 21 years old, and to me I feel very close to this song as I keep it very near and dear for whenever it is I have a wife and child.
Was listening to this beautiful song omw to work. I thought about my children and cried a little. Thinking that this would make a great lullaby, I searched for the lyrics. I’m so going to learn this one and sing it to them. Powerful, beautiful, and it reminds me of how the universe can look out for you too, if you ask it to.
