Lost the Plot Lyrics

When you come back again
would you bring me something from the fridge?
Heard a rumour that the end is near
but I just got comfortable here.
sigh.
Let's be blunt.
I'm a little distracted.
What do you want?

Headaches and bad faith
are all that I've got.
First I misplaced the ending
then I lost the plot.

Out among the free-range sheep
while the big birds sharpen their claws.
For a time we stuck with the shepherd
but you wouldn't play Santa Claus.

sigh.
Let's be blunt.
We're a little distracted.
What do you want?

Once we could follow,
now we cannot.
You would not fit our image,
so we lost the plot.

Once we could hear you,
now our senses are shot.
We've forgotten our first love.
We have lost the plot.

When I saw you for the first time
you were hanging with a thief
And I knew my hands were dirty,
and I dropped my gaze.
Then you said I was forgiven
and you welcomed me with laughter.
I was happy ever after.
I was counting the days
when you'd come back again.
we'll be waiting for you
When you comin' back again?
we'll be ready for you
Maybe we'll wake up when...
maybe we'll wake up when
you come back again.

lies.
Let's be blunt.
We're a little unfaithful.
What do you want?

Are you still listening?
'Cause we're obviously not
We've forgotten our first love
We have lost the plot.

And why are you still calling?
You forgave, we forgot.
We're such experts at stalling
that we've lost the plot.
lost the plot

When you come back again
would you bring me something from the fridge?
Heard a rumour that the end is near
but I just got comfortable here.

My favorite Newsboys song hands down! Peter Furlers vocals are on the money,it's raw and to the point and sadly describes many christians who have gotten too comfortable here on earth, forgetting that something greater awaits those who are faithful to the end.

Vocals are great, but they aren't Pete Furler. John James was still on lead vocals for this song. Pete took over full time lead vocals on the album following this one.

You are correct, Fuller sang this song on the album as he did most of the songs on most of the studio albums. James was for the most part "lead singer" when on stage. Also, if you watch any old footage you'll see many times when they are singing the lead vocals together.

"We've forgotten our first love. We have lost the plot."

Revelation 2:4 yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repend and do the things you did at first.

Revelation 2:1-7 1"To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: 2I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. 5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. 6But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Heh, I get it. Listening to the whole song helps. Its about someone who has become apathetic to everyone and everything around them. They're realizing they're moving away from something that was good in there lives but they just dont care anymore.

Great Song. He is talking about the Christian church and how many of us have become stagnat and comfortable.

If you love this album's lyrics, you would probably enjoy Steve Taylor's lyrics. He is the reason Newsboys became big, helping them produce and write their songs.

I remember being a kid and getting this album. This song became my instant favorite.

This seems like a neat song. What album is it on?

"Take Me To Your Leader" is the album title. Great album overall, I must say.

This song itself is great because it hits the nail on the head. "For a time we stuck with the shepherd but you wouldn't play Santa Claus.

sigh. Let's be blunt. We're a little distracted. What do you want?" It may be a bit, as they say, blunt, but it's true. God doesn't play Santa Claus, and we get distracted and basically treat God like "What do you want now?"

I get a sense of grief and anger in the vocal delivery that doesn't match any other Newsboys song... From the line "lost the plot" matching John James' statement in various interviews, I have often wondered if this song is an outpouring of the grief Peter Furler was feeling to the lifestyle that John was living during that time.

I know that sometime between the release of TMTYL and SUTTM, JJ confessed and was asked to leave the band...

Speculation, but this perspective really gives a richer tone to the song
