Deeper Into Movies Lyrics
Late at night gazing out into the late at night
I see deep in the world 'til I open my eyes
Every day brakes screech outside my window
Those crashing cars never seem to collide
Sometimes when I'm staring out my window
Catch the stars and watch as they go by
I've been getting messages from outer space
They spiral like a finger in the sky
It blows my mind
Every day I'm drawn to my window
I can hear it if I open my eyes
Sometimes flashing lights seem so familiar
I know I've seen them circling me at night
I've been sending signals into outer space
They spiral like a finger in the sky
It blows my mind
Every day the restlessness takes over me
I can see it as I'm closing my eyes
I've been sending signals into outer space
They spiral like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky
I see deep in the world 'til I open my eyes
Every day brakes screech outside my window
Those crashing cars never seem to collide
Catch the stars and watch as they go by
They spiral like a finger in the sky
It blows my mind
I can hear it if I open my eyes
I know I've seen them circling me at night
They spiral like a finger in the sky
It blows my mind
I can see it as I'm closing my eyes
They spiral like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky
Like a finger in the sky

The title probably comes from the title of a book by Pauline Kael, who was a film reviewer. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0446935255/103-9988304-8355847?v=glance&n=283155
Curiously, this web site http://deeperintomovies.net/ just has a picture of Eleanor Bron and the words "thinking about Eleanor Bron". Eleanor Bron was mentioned in the song "Tom Courtenay".
still just finally listening to Yo La Tengo for the first time in my life. yes, i regret it, but hey, better late than never.
So far, this song is BY FAR the best song I've heard by them. and it's cool, because i bought the albums on iTunes at like 5am because i was restless and couldn't sleep. and hey, wouldya look at that? the lyrics. haha
awesome band so far, amazing song.
I absolutely adore this song. It is no doubt the best I've ever heard from them.
The way all the music and vocals blend together into one vast dreamy soundscape reminds me a lot of My Bloody Valentine.
this is such an awesome song. i think its about how whoever wrote it couldn't sleep and these are all the thoughts going through his/her head
I liked this song better when I couldn't make out the lyrics. Live, you can actually hear the lyrics.
I like the insomnia idea, but I extend it to insanity. The singer seems to be going crazy from not sleeping. I wonder if this is a reference to a movie, hence the name of the song?
its one of my favorite songs ever, when i think about it the word "epic" comes to mind. It has a cinematic feel to it that i kinda connect with the cover of "and then nothing turned itself inside out" and in some ways to David Bowie's "Starman". Makes me think about being a kid and reading sci-fi comics and the kind of "magical" idea that there's other things out there. By the way, Eleanor Bron is famous for her role in the movie "Help!" (The beatles)
I love it.
The vocals sound a bit like some parts of "Comfortably Numb" and thats why I love this song!
Something special about this song. Can't help feeling there's something deeper than the lyrics imply. Something I'm missing between the lines. Can't quite figure it out.
