They Write Books About This Sort Of Thing Lyrics
Her pretty noises
Can you turn them down
I think that I'm dying
Do you want to go out?
Because we can play some pac-man
Or go to the library
We can order some pat thai
Without the MSG
And they write books about this sort of thing
And they write books about this sort of thing
Yeah, they write books about this sort of thing
Closed captioned heartbeats
Spell thump five letters long
I think she's gone to Nashville
She don't care for my songs
And if my heart hadn't withered
Then perhaps I'd track her down
But I've got a lot to stew on
So I guess I'll hang around
And they write books about this sort of thing
And they write books about this sort of thing
Yeah, they write books about this sort of thing
Can you turn them down
I think that I'm dying
Do you want to go out?
Or go to the library
We can order some pat thai
Without the MSG
And they write books about this sort of thing
Yeah, they write books about this sort of thing
Spell thump five letters long
I think she's gone to Nashville
She don't care for my songs
Then perhaps I'd track her down
But I've got a lot to stew on

this song is beautiful
"Closed captioned heartbeats" i love that.
this is my favourite Say Hi song.
I'm pretty sure the first line is "Heard pretty noises" not her. I don't how a girl would be able to turn her pretty noises down. Although, if it is her, I guess the first four lines were then supposed to just be random lines. Doubt that, though.
Yeah, I think I'm wrong :-/
Isn't it pad thai? I thought it was "Heard pretty noises" too. Like maybe she was playing her music too loud and he went to yell at her and she was pretty and he was embarrassed ("dying") and sort of awkward and asked her out. And as he proclaimed his love she couldn't care less. And left. And yada yada..
it's definitely pad thai
it's definitely pad thai
haha, I love that interpretation. I'm going to think of that everytime I hear it now. That sounds like something that would be in a romantic comedy.
Oh, and I wondered about the pad thai, too. I think you can spell it Pad Thai or Pat Thai.
I love his voice. It's so wonderful, but not perfect. On certain notes it sounds like he goes out of tune for a minute. That's one reason why I love this band.
It's "Her pretty noises," according to the lyrics that came with the album. He spells it "pad thai" too. But then again, lyric booklets are often wrong :)
