Ruby Lyrics
Ruby, oh baby don't you know
Girl your silence hurts me so
Are you listening
Ruby, oh baby can't you see
It's the stars (scars?) of misery
Oh are you listening
Troubles they seem to follow me
As far as I can see it must be my destiny
Troubles they carry you around
From the crib into the ground
They will never set you down
Ruby oh baby can't you see
I'm so sad it's killing me
Are you listening
Ruby if you like to think out loud it might really help me out
Are you listening
Troubles they seem to follow me
As far as I can see it must be my destiny
Troubles they carry you around
From the crib into the ground
They will never set you down
Babababa..
(Are you listening girl x2)
Troubles they seem to follow me
As far as I can see it must be my destiny
Troubles they carry you around
From the crib into the ground
They will never set you down
Are you listening girl
Babababa...
Are you listening girl
Girl your silence hurts me so
Are you listening
Ruby, oh baby can't you see
It's the stars (scars?) of misery
Oh are you listening
Troubles they seem to follow me
As far as I can see it must be my destiny
Troubles they carry you around
From the crib into the ground
They will never set you down
I'm so sad it's killing me
Are you listening
Ruby if you like to think out loud it might really help me out
Are you listening
Troubles they seem to follow me
As far as I can see it must be my destiny
Troubles they carry you around
From the crib into the ground
They will never set you down
(Are you listening girl x2)
As far as I can see it must be my destiny

i hate this song
i love this song
i dance to this song
If you don't love cute '60's pop throwbacks, you'll probably hate this song. :)
Looking strictly at the lyrics, they do sound a little condescending and dumbed-down. But listening to the song, you've got to realize that he's narrating a pretty pessimistic life philosophy to a wonderful sing-a-long pop tune, which is interesting - almost desperate. It's a device Of Montreal uses a lot, which is probably why I like it.
And I love the "ba-ba-ba-ba"s in the middle.
I believe it's "it's the source of misery"
I believe it's "it's the source of misery"
now when i hear this, i just remember the bassist inviting me on stage to assist with the babababas.,,, greatest night ever, at the turf club in st paul. the apples are so fun live.
I like to think it's about taking care of an infant.
PS-- the lyric is "Ruby, oh baby can't you see, it's the SOURCE of misery", or at least that's what I've always figured
