Before There Was Atlanta, There Was Douglasville Lyrics
Ten thousand times ten thousand
Walking and marching and running
And shoving and pressing on
Step by step, to the grave, marching on
You have a song; unsung
I sing a new song falling on deaf ears
Unsung
Walking and marching and running
And shoving and pressing on
Step by step, to the grave, marching on
You have a song; unsung
I sing a new song falling on deaf ears
Unsung

"This aint my first rodeo"
I think this song is about how so much of humanity is on the path to destruction - "step by step to the grave" - but when they are offered something better, they reject it - "I sing a new song falling on deaf ears".
iamamachinegun you kick ass. yes. he is railing against group think and the collective march of industrial civilization to its grave.
this song was renamed to Phil Cosby. Its talking about how people have faith, but are afraid to share it, "you have a song; unsung" shows that, and how people just try to get to heaven tooth and nail.
Im from Douglasville. And my brother was best friends with their drummer in middle school and high school
