i saw this song live in hyde park - c'est rocking
i dont know y the peppers wrote it. but to me this song is about a girl who you are in love with. but you know you shouldnt be. like a kinda forbidden relationship thing

isnt it 'shade' not 'shame'
it's hard to work out whether he says shade or shame. i thought he was sayign shade but didn't understand why. i msut say i don't understand the phrase "leverage of space" and the latter part seems like he's regretting the loss of someone or some sort of relatiosnhsip with someone.
For me this song talks about failure, about having done something you swore you would never do again... (I think I would say "shame", not "shade"... :S)

The leverage of space refers to the advantage gained by the first country/people to militarise space. It's a shame, but it's the one remaining frontier of warfare. It is by far the biggest advantage.
I don't think this has to do with anything actually relating to space, as in the outer frontier of this world. I think this song title is a colloquialism that we just don't understand fully, and in fact, not about space.
