I Surrender Lyrics
A million suns are glowing in the night
Everything is quiet
Except for all the voices in my head
That say your name
Tonight I'm letting go
About to give in
I surrender myself
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you - to you
I surrender myself
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you - to you
There is only one bridge left for me
My heart is almost free
Beautiful by my side
But all I think about is you
And tonight I'm letting go
About to give in
I surrender myself
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you - to you
I surrender myself
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you
Who really loves me…?
You really love me…
My beautiful stranger…
You really love me…like I love you
Everything is quiet
Except for all the voices in my head
That say your name
Tonight I'm letting go
About to give in
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you - to you
I surrender myself
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you - to you
My heart is almost free
Beautiful by my side
But all I think about is you
And tonight I'm letting go
About to give in
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you - to you
I surrender myself
Into the arms of a beautiful stranger
I surrender myself to you
You really love me…
My beautiful stranger…
You really love me…like I love you

As morbid as it may sound, I interpret the “beautiful stranger” as death. The line “Except for all the voices in my head that say your name” suggests an inner struggle, almost like intrusive thoughts constantly reminding him of this presence. When the lyrics move to “I’m letting go and I surrender”, I read it as an acceptance, giving in to the call of death, which is personified here as the beautiful stranger. He then reflects “There is only one bridge left for me”. Crossing a bridge is a common metaphor for dying, symbolizing the passage from life into death. It represents that final crossing-over, leaving behind the weight of this world. Followed right after by, “my heart is almost free” reinforces that idea: by surrendering, his heart is finally released from pain, conflict, and earthly burdens. Death becomes a form of peace, a release from everything that weighs him down. When he continues with “I surrender to you” and questions who truly loves him, in this case death, mit almost feels like he finds comfort in the beautiful stranger, as if death itself is what really embraces him. That’s why he affirms, “you really love me like I love you.” The act of surrendering here seems to imply giving up—not in a purely negative sense, but in the sense of letting go of all worldly attachments and accepting death’s call.
And even if it’s not that deep and more literal, that he wants to surrender to this new love, the beautiful stranger, it is a magnificent song 21 years later!

Well... can't describe how great i think this song is. It's the exact words on how i am feeling now. That feeling where you sick and tired of being in love with a person who doesn't feel the same.
It's a decesion so hard to take - to say goodbye. That small hope that et will develop into something - but then again realizing that you have to let it go and surrender your self to a beautiful stranger...
Maybee it doens't mean that.. but that is what it means to me :)
I have absolutely no idea why I love this song so much. But I do, I really do.
Everything is quiet Except for all the voices in my head That say your name
Simply amazing!
great song.
Wow, Hove, I really knwo how you feel... I'm not sure either, if this is what the song means, but, hearing it for the first time, I knew it was perfect.. Perfect to describe how I felt... Guess I really have to let go, don't I? Didn't wanna realize it, but perhaps I simply have to...

I think that this song is about completely giving in to love. Letting go of all your fears and accepting that you're falling madly in love.
