The Water Song 2 Lyrics
they'll be singing out loud
when the water goes through the crowd.
they'll be howling for you
when the waves come crashing through.
I brought my friend. here he comes,
splashing, gurgling for you.
now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
crashing through.
they'll be saying your name,
every voice different, every word the same.
they'll be holding you up
too close to the sun,
but I will make them stop.
I brought my friend. here he comes,
splashing, gurgling for you.
and now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
rushing through.
still ??? singing, go stand in the light.
when my friend gets here he will set things right.
they'll be singing for one thing and they'll get this instead.
let them come and get me, let them strike me dead.
I brought my friend. here he comes,
splashing, gurgling for you.
now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
rushing through.
I brought my friend. here he comes,
splashing, gurgling for you.
and now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
rushing through.
when the water goes through the crowd.
they'll be howling for you
when the waves come crashing through.
splashing, gurgling for you.
now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
crashing through.
every voice different, every word the same.
they'll be holding you up
too close to the sun,
but I will make them stop.
splashing, gurgling for you.
and now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
rushing through.
when my friend gets here he will set things right.
they'll be singing for one thing and they'll get this instead.
let them come and get me, let them strike me dead.
splashing, gurgling for you.
now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
rushing through.
splashing, gurgling for you.
and now the water runs through the streets unimpaired,
rushing through.

"they'll be holding you up too close to the sun" makes me immediately think of Icarus, but I really have no idea what this song is actually about, or how it relates to the first Water Song.
Only connection to the first Water Song I can find is in the line, "let them strike me dead", as the first Water Song uses the line "let them kill me" repeatedly. Other than that, I'm drawing blanks.
ohhh, this one's pretty simple really it's basically the michigan j. frog story - the guy's got a pet mudskipper or something, and it becomes indomitably popular with the masses due to, I don't know, being really cute or something, and the guy is ok with this because it has the awesome side effect of allowing water to flow freely through all the streets (in order to make sure that the fish has access to moisture no matter where it's taken to entertain people). the last verse is about how the guy doesn't actually have the mudfish with him when the expectant crowd thinks he's going to present it, and obviously he's going to have to deal with the consequences of that - a very angry crowd, angry not only because they've been deceived into thinking they were going to see an adorable little amphibian that day, but also angry that their streets are now soaking wet for no good reason.
obv...
although yeah it doesn't have a whole lot to do with the first water song besides that there's a lot of water
