Don't Think Twice, It's Alright Lyrics
Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter anyhow
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When the rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm travelling on
Don't think twice, it's alright
Well it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
Light I've never known
Ain't no use in turning on the light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Wish there was something you could do or say
Something to make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talking anyway
Don't think twice, it's alright
And it ain't no use in calling out my name, girl
Like you've never done before
It ain't no use in calling out my name, girl
I can't hear you anymore
I'm thinking and a wondering,
Walking down that road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul
Don't think twice, it's alright
So long, honeybabe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
Goodbye is too good a word babe
I'll just say, "Fare thee well"
I ain't saying you treated me unkind
You could've done better, but I don't mind
You just kind of wasted my precious time
Don't think twice, it's alright
(I think this is a cover, and the original is by Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash...I'm not sure which)
It don't matter anyhow

Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm travelling on

i can't believe that no one has said anything about this song! well, it's meaning is quite obvious, so i'll just say that this is the most amaaaaazing song in the history of the earth. i get goosebumps when i listen to it.
also, i know bob dylan also has a version of this song; i am unsure about johnny cash. i still prefer nick's version.
Absolutely companycalls!
This is a Dylan song originally. I think I prefer his version a bit more, his self-assured, almost snide voice suits the lyrics better. But Drake is a better guitar player. His plucking here is just amazing.
Nick does a version of this song???? anyone know what album???
Elliott Smith also covered this song, it was beautiful. Wow, my three favorite people in one message...Nick, Bob, and, of course, Elliott.
best line in a song: I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul
I think it's on "Tanworth in Arden" and "Time has told me". Might be a little tricky to get a hold of.
Or you could download it here: http://www2.skynet.ca/~nickdrake/
bladet, thanks so much, that's very pretty....
There's also a Vonda Shephard version of this. I know most people would laugh at the idea of her being able to pull it off, but she's actually pretty good at it. It's very sweet with a female voice, and it's kinda nice to hear it done like that. I like the Bob Dylan version as wel though, never heard Nick Drake's one.
I think the song is about someone who has resigned themselves to the end of a relationship and this is they're attempt to get closure. I could be wrong, this is just the way I always thought of it.
i'm sad its a dylan version first... i think nick is one of the best lyricists and guitar players.. sad he died way before his time...
