It's Been A While Since I Was Your Man Lyrics
Way up in that sky
I look up and I wonder
If that’s you passing by
It’s been a while since I was your man
Used to shout up from outside
Wake you when you were sleeping
Now I walk the streets, I don’t recognize nobody
It’s been a while since I was your man
As time passed us by
We never felt like we should
We never did what we ought to
And folks they used to smile
And now they just think that they should
They just think that they should
We used to roll around on the floor
Get some Chinese delivered
Listen to Led Zeppelin IV

i get the idea this song is about the death of a girlfriend. lines like "way up in that sky, i look up and i wonder if that's you passing by" gives off the impression that he senses her soul/spirit. a lot of the song is, indeed, reminsicing on the relationship that has obviously left a hole in his life. but then he says "folks, they used to smile, now they just think that they should". this could imply, and to me it makes more sense than just a breakup, that they feel so sorry for him that they basically force smiles as they walk down the street. my idea, anyway. a LOVELY song off white light.
I looove this song. Well it's obviosuly a pretty simple song, about him remembering an old girlfriend and the things he used to do. I get the feeling he's really depressed, probably not by her but he's just remembering a time when he was a lot happier.
man. this song is really depressing. It reminds me of the times I used to hang out with my old friends before moving away from Dartmouth 6 years ago. Matthew Good had always made good music.
I love this song. It reminds me of my girlfriend, who I've been with for over two years. Here we are at different universities, and it's unlikely I'll be seeing her, let alone living with her for a VERY long time. This is the best song from WLR+RR
