Whispers Of Dead Sisters Lyrics

Whispers to me, my depression
With a hint of murder
Watch them, the angels are forlorn
Watch them, they share my soul
I hide my face to cry
Why do I feel this kiss upon me?
I crave your presence
but the priests are pointing at me
They have made me your betrayer
But I whisper your name in the dark

Anger rests on my fingertips
A place where God (I am told) no longer lives
A mass of flesh they love to beat
But not without identity

On scabby knees I continue to crawl
The sores are open and blood trails behind
Rocks and stones meld into my skin
My body is a home for plagues
I hope the paradise is good, it must be
But the turbulence makes me brittle
I cannot see
I find myself holding hatred, it clings to me
I killed a man in my mind, I wanted him dead
Yes I have faith, Yes I am saved
But it doesn't stop my misery
It doesn't stop my hatred
It doesn't stop me wanting to die

Yet I'm still here despite the pain
I refuse to believe I was called to suffer...
I was called... to prosper.

This song is pretty pointed about people in churches who constantly critisize you and try to make you fit some kind of 'christian' mold that they hold in their hands. Whispers (gossip) of (spiritually)dead sisters (women in the church).

The first section is about his longing to please God while others point him out and tell him he cannot, at least the way he is trying to do it.

The second is about the anger he feels at them for pretty much telling him he is somehow worshiping God 'wrong.' Anger at their disaproval.

The third is about walking out faith underneath this heavy burden, making your knees bleed and wondering why the faith doesn't make the hurting/hatred stop. Which it doesnt, at least not totally. Christians aren't called out of the world in the sense of being immune to all its problems. In a way it makes it harder on us because of all the oppression of the fake-church followers, God haters, and of course, satan in general.

And the fourth is resting in the promises of God despite our limited understanding and vision. Suffering isn't our purpose, but something we must endure to reach our higher end in Him.

Wow. This is a very moving song. This talks about how even those who are saved and are faithful still have moments of weakness. We still sin and we are not perfect. Sometimes these sins can eat at us but we still do them. God still loves us and we are no less saved because we are not perfect. And as Rowan said, "Yet I'm still here despite the pain I refuse to believe I was called to suffer... I was called... to prosper." Even though Christians endure persecution our calling is to prosper...in Christ.
