Kill Your Television Lyrics

She said, she said
"You don't know shit,
Because you've never been there"

She turned upon him,
Took him by the hair
Spun him round about,
Laughing as he fell about,
Sat down for a drink
In her father's favourite chair

Kill your television

I said, "I know I don't know shit,
Because I've never been there"
You turn upon me
Took me by the hair
Spun me 'round about, pushing me out
Laughing as I fell about
Sat down for a drink
In your father's favorite chair

She said
Soap for sore eyes
I need an intermission
If looks could kill
I'd kill your television

She said
Soap for sore eyes
I need an intermission
If looks could kill
I'd kill your television

Kill your television

Soap for sore eyes

@monster36604

yup nice one for completing the lyrics but i dont think theyre quite right

  • of course ill be embarrassed if youre getting the lyrics from the sleeve notes but id always thought the kinda bridge line was:

"salt for sore eyes" not 'soap for sore eyes'

i can see soap kinda working with the lyrics but id always thought like, y'know rubbing salt into a wound

youve got sore eyes from living in this hard life of ours and now someone is rubbing fucking salt into em

KILL..... YOUR...... ...................... TELEVISION!

@rhizzla I know it's been a day or two since you commented (lol) but I made an account just to share a 1991 interview NAD had with mcall where they do actually specify it's "soap." I unfortunately have all my CDs in storage so I can't share the liner notes, but hopefully you think it's as cool as I do that this made its way to the internet www.mcall.com/news/mc-xpm-1991-10-04-2833722-story

I always thought it was salt too. I have the cassette on the side downstairs. I will see if the lyrics are on there and report back.

OF course none of this actually explains what the song is about.

Can I just say though, that I adore this album.

Right. I have good news and bad. Yes there are some lyrics on the inlay in the cassette.

So hurrah!

But... Dampen your fanfare because the lyrics printed on the cassette inlay are not complete. They stop after the first "Kill Your Television".

So my conclusion is inconclusive.

Consider it a gaelic shrug.
