that bit there shows that the person has changed into someone they dislike.
to me this song is about a best friend who has made a decision that benefits themselves but truely hurts you. and whatever decision they have made causes you great pain and knowing this they continue to do what theyve done despite how much you have been through together. you dont even recognize this person anymore because they dont show any of the qualities that you once admired them for.
