It's a shame about the roadblock
We're afraid that we'll get caught or stopped
Let's go right now, surf city eastern block
I'm in the trunk, my surfboard on top

The eighties ain't been kind to anyone
I just want to find myself some sun
It's 1984, we're on the run
Goodbye Berlin, hello Autobahn

It's a shame about the roadblock
If they catch us we won't ever talk
Let's go right now, surf city eastern block
I'm in the trunk when the inspector knocks

General CommentThis song is great. Its about escaping oppression to total unlimited freedom. The most powerful lines of the song are: Goodbye Berlin, hello Autobahn. Good bye communist oppression, total control, hello life without limits (speed limits). The song sort of hints at the future, but I feel like it leaves interpretation to the listener. Maybe he will escape and live with rules, but abuse the lack of speedlimits and crash. Maybe he will respect the trust and cruise to the end.
