I Love This Song... Possibly worried about what others will think of him if he gets with a girl that he likes but noone else does... Possibly she's a bitch to everyone.
"the whole world hates us" is talking about the worlds view on christians and standing up for god regardless

i feel that the world hates Catholics but i stand up for my faith and i still 'sing' to God
even though it does scare me that i might not follow Him or be terrified of who i will become without Him in my life...
yeah, i actually talked to Dan of This Providence at a concert in Appleton, WI, he's the singer and guitarist if you didn't know. well i asked him what this meant to him and he told me that it was about how he began to give his life to God. we're hesitant to do so at first cuz we're scared of what others might think but instead we shouldn't worry about that but press on forward. just keep singing no matter what. if you guys have ever heard him talk, he's got an australian accent, it's so awesome. haha
You guys are way off base here. If you know anything about Dan Young, the lead singer, you know that he was a closet homosexual before joining the band. He said performing live "freed him" and gave him the strength to come out.
This song is about coming out of the closet as a gay. With lyrics "I'm terrified of who i'll become with you" and "The whole world hates us" you will see how obvious this is. Just ask him about it next time you see a show, I did!
