Please Come To Boston Lyrics

Please come to Boston
For the springtime
I'm stayin' here with some friends
And they've got lots of room
You can sell your paintings on the sidewalk
By a cafe where I hope to be workin' soon
Please come to Boston
She said no, but you come home to me

Chorus:
And she said, hey ramblin' boy
Now(Why) don't you settle down? Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold
And there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan
Of the man from Tennessee

Please come to Denver
With the snowfall
We'll move up into the mountains
So far that we can't be found
And throw I love you echos
Down the canyons
And then lie awake at night
Until they come back around
Please come to Denver
She said no, boy would you come home to me

Chorus:
Then she said, hey ramblin' boy
Why don't you settle down? Denver ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold
And there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan
Of the man from Tennessee

Now this drifter's world
Goes round and round
And I doubt that it's ever gonna stop
But of all the dreams
I've lost or found
And all that I ain't got
I still need to lean to
Somebody I can sing to

Please come to L.A.
To live forever
A California life alone
Is just too hard to build
I live in a house that
Looks out over the ocean
And there's some stars
That fell from the sky
Livin' up on the hill
Please come to L.A.
She just said no
Boy, won't you come home to me

Chorus:
And she said, hey ramblin' boy
Why don't you settle down? L.A. can't be your kind of town
There ain't no gold
And there ain't nobody like me!
I'm the number one fan
Of the man from Tennessee

I'm the number one fan
of the man from Tennessee

Dave Loggins is the man from Tennessee. He moves too much and his girl wants him to settle down with her in a quiet life.

I've always thought that "The number one man from Tennessee" was a reference to either Jack Daniels or George A. Dickel. Meaning of course that drinking either (or both) helps him get through his lonely life without his lover.

No, Dave Loggins is the man from TN, he's talking about himself in the song. He's quoting her as saying "I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee" meaning she is his number one fan but she wants him to settle down at home. He is from Mountain City, TN.

I love these poetic lyrics in the second stanza:

We'll move up into the mountains So far that we can't be found And throw I love you echos Down the canyons And then lie awake at night Until they come back around

Thst is the part that got me hoooked :-)

I don't know why no one's commented on this song yet - I think it's his best by far.

I love Denver, I lived there on and of for 5 years, and would live there again if I had the chance. This song reminds me of a girl I loved there, mountains, clear cold mornings, camp fire coffee. and traveling.

Who's the NUMBNUTS injecting Elvis into this song? I've seen it splattered on the Google discussion boards too. "The Elvis Theory." Really??? Give me a break you NITWIT. Why would she say,"Boy, you come home to me," and then profess that she's the number one fan of Elvis? Use the skull God gave you. Go to Burger King for your Elvis fantasy, I'm sure he's waiting for you.

when I hear this song, I always remember hearing it decades ago and picture me dreaming of being with the love of my youth, yelling "I love you" down a snowy valley holding her and listening for the echoes. A beautiful picture of a memory in my mind's eye. As in the song, it didn't come to pass.
