Naked Burn Lyrics
Actually this song has nothing to do with the theme of leviathan... I forget where, but I read an article and Brent said this song is about the occurences of "catholic priests raping boys" and he thought it was "fucked up" so they wrote a song about it.
Yes But I dont see what it has to do with the album concept of Leviathan
They actually played this song at the Las Vegas show. I thought I'd never hear of it being played live EVER again since Brent hates playing it, and all.
Oh thats cool, this song is cool.

Guys, BornIIHula is RIGHT, here is the citation if anyone needs it: http://fuckyeahmastodon.tumblr.com/post/11279623624/naked-burn-confusion
Being my usual lurker self, I was reading a topic on Mastodon’s official forums last night concerning the Leviathan track “Naked Burn” and why Brent allegedly hates the song and refuses to perform it live at most shows. Now I’m not an expert on these matters, but an interview that Mastodon did with Kerrang! in February 2005 might give a reason as to why Brent’s uncomfortable with it. Yeah, Leviathan is Moby Dick-centric, but not all the songs are directly about events from the book. “Naked Burn” deals with some touchy subject matter. Brent explains:
“The song ‘Naked Burn’ off of Leviathan isn’t about Moby Dick; it’s about Catholic priests raping boys in the ass. It has to be talked about in some fashion because it’s so fucked up, but people aren’t really going to get that notion right off the bat. You have to read between the lines”
Despite “Naked Burn” being one of the more melodic and “pretty” tracks on Leviathan, it’s still about child molestation and sexual abuse. I was just as shocked to find this out as I’m sure a lot of fans reading this will, because I didn’t pick up on any of the hints in the lyrics. Given that Brent wrote this song, he has the right to not play it or talk about it. This song was taken out of mothballs during the BlackDiamondSkye tour, but Brent still despises the song and probably regrets ever writing it. You can kind of understand why.
You have to read between the lines, this makes sense and that's what BRENT SAID
Great song...
I don't know what it means, but i think the significanse of it is that the whole album is about being at sea, and this is the only song that seems to be themed onland. it might possibly be about a character getting ready to set off to sea, "The ship's arrived, let's sail into the weather"
Correction: Joseph Merrick didnt write Moby Dick.
Joseph Merrick is teh elephant man!
Sounds to me like the part in the story that Ahab is dying. I've never read the story myself but I heard that Ahab was dragged to the ocean by a rope tied round his leg.
"Save yourself Don't wait on me My feet are sewn Endless bottom"
Possibly Ahab saying to save yourself. His feet sewn = his feet tied together? Endless bottom pretty much explains itself.
