First of all, I think its "There's so many of us" instead of "There's so many opposites". With that said, I think that this song is saying that we are having a war for more reasons than the obvious. They are saying that we are having a war to control the population of America. "Theres so many of us... Lets have a war so you can go and die... We need the space" It makes sense right? I dont know if this song is a cover, and if it is than I obviously dont know what song its a cover for, so I may be very wrong. But I thats what I think the song is about.

I think he is being blantantly sarcastic. Hes saying yeah lets have a war that'll solve all our problems. Logically (but heartlessly carried out) a war would decrease the population and increase revenue for us, but like I said who would want to just go kill other people....The government is a freaking joke and most if not all politicians are in it for the money not to accurately represent the people who have funded and voted for them every step of the way. A lot of tool and APC songs are about this very fact. So maynard you are awesome

As for the meaning: "There's so many of us" -This suggests that the fundamental problem with people living peaceably on Earth is that there's simply too many of us to support our rate of consumption.

"Let's have a war," -We are as exploitative with ourselves as we are with the Earth. Those of us in more advantageous social strata will use the fact that our consumption of resources is inequitable with the poorer among us... And we'll mobilize the poor to fight others for our interests (maintain the status quo), and incentivize it by giving these poor (Reagan-loving) fools false hope that they can be one of us... If only they'd fight our "enemies" that stole it from them.

"So you can go and die," -The wealthy among us don't have any intention of actually giving you what they promised you if you survive. No. We'd rather you'd die so that you don't come back to eat any piece of that pie we sanctioned you to (steal from other countries/people) "fight" for.

"Let's have a war, We could all use the money," -It will "help" our ailing economy... Only you thought "we" includes you? You aren't coming back, remember? It will however be a boon to those of us with interests in the business of death, the military industrial complex.

"Let's have a war, We need the space," -Higher levels of opulence are possible if "we" don't have to give you any resources. We'll build mansions and our playgrounds on the land your family lived in for generations.

"Let's have a war, Clean out this place" -We'll clear out all you unworthy, weak, and uninitiated bumpkins so we'll have more of what you aren't going to need... Since you're dead.

"It already started in the city, Suburbia will be just as easy" -You see, we've already gentrified the inner city and forced the poor out to fight for us... Suburbia is the next target... We'll put the economic hurt on you next so you'll consider dodging bullets and killing other people for us to make ends meet... So you can have/keep your "American dream" and that white picket fence.

"Let's have a war, Jack up the Dow Jones," -We don't just wage war with bullets... This war will pump up the stock market... and just when you buy in... We'll sell.

"Let's have a war, It can start in New Jersey," -This war isn't against any real enemy... It's against the undeserving poor fools in our own country... New Jersey is where a majority of middle class New York employees live... The Ayn Rand philosophy suggests the free-loading middle class owe us. They're are going to pay us. Not the other way around.

"Let's have a war, Blame it on the middle-class," -Hey! Middle-class... you're suffering because you live beyond your means... And them foreigners are takin ur jobz

"Let's have a war, We're like rats in a cage" -We'll eventually eat each other until there's no one else left. Then we'll eat ourselves.

Yeah, the Fear version sounds like he's saying "there's so many of us" as well, but it's "opposites". It's from 'The Record', about the most nihilistic and overtly political on the album. Good companion songs would be 'Kill the Poor' and "Kinky Sex Makes the World Go Round", both by the Dead Kennedys.

This song's a good example of the diversity on eMOTIVe. Where else are you gonna find a band covering Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, Black Flag and Annihilation on the same album? And DEVO!

the lyrics lets give guns to the queers. is this a homophobic remark or saying that the people that go to war are queers or saying that are government wnats to kill them off
