If Your Eyes Were Mine Lyrics
Oh, stop crying like that love
Don't wash away that smile
I can kiss away a tear but not a flood
Smash all your mirrors
I swear, love, they lie
Could you see what I see
If your eyes were mine?
Next time you need me
Click your heels to be in my arms
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
Smash all your mirrors
I promise you, they lie
Could you see what I see
If your eyes were mine?
If your eyes were mine...
Don't wash away that smile
I can kiss away a tear but not a flood
I swear, love, they lie
Could you see what I see
If your eyes were mine?
Click your heels to be in my arms
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
I promise you, they lie
Could you see what I see
If your eyes were mine?

to me this song is about a girl who's been heart broken so many different times and all she does is want to feel alive again and she doesnt want to hurt anymore...and the guy is telling her that she doesnt have to look in the mirror and see something she doesnt want to see because to him shes beauitful inside and out and that if only she could see what he saw she'd know that shes beauitful and shes wonderful. and he's telling her that if she ever needed anything she can count on him no matter what...to be there she can cry in his arms and know theres no place like his arms...
"Next time you need me. click your heels to be in my arms" this is such a sweet song.
to me this song is about a girl who can't see how beautiful she is and is tearing her lover apart by hating what she is. the lover wants to tear her self image down and rebuild her and show her how she's percieved by everyone else.
Reminds me soooo much of my girlfriend. She's beautiful, and I wish she could see that.
Reminds me soooo much of my girlfriend. She's beautiful, and I wish she could see that.
To me, this song's about a girl who doesn't realize just how captivatingly incredible she really is to the speaker. In his eyes, she's everything he's always wanted, and "home" is simply being with her. I love it.
isn't it " I promise to you, they lie " in stead of " I promise, love, they lie " ? I like the last one the best though, so I hope that's right..
This song is so sad, and you guys above me have described it just the way I see it.
I like turning off all the lights in my room, laying on my bed and listening to this song on my iPod.. on a low volume. It feels like someones laying next to me singing me this song :] makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside :]
Also at the beginning of the song, I've noticed no one has mentioned the part "I can kiss away your tear, but not a flood" intentionally meaning that he cant fix the whole self image problem, but try to help her out of it.
i think this might be a little more accurate.....:
Oh, stop crying like that love Don't wipe away that smile I can kiss away a tear but not a flood
And smash all your mirrors I promise you, they lie Could you see what I see If your eyes were mine?
Next time you need me Click your heels to be in my arms There's no place like home There's no where
And smash all your mirrors I promise you, they lie Could you see what I see If your eyes were mine? If your eyes (x4) And smash all of your mirrors If your eyes And could you see what I see? If your eyes...
but anyway, i love this song...& i agree with everyone else... it makes me cry...but makes me feel a little better about my problems...like they're trying to cheer me up. =]
The song speaks to me personally, and I can relate to it through an eating disorder. The speaker of the song could be dating a girl who's torn apart by the body dysmorphia related to an e.d. She would be suffering while trying to make herself look beautiful in her own eyes, and the singer thinks she's already beautiful and wishes he could save her and make her see that.
