I, The Witchfinder Lyrics

I am Albino, evil witchfinder
I'll cleanse her sins, for witchcraft I condemn her
My implements of torture are bloody red
Your confession to sorcery will leave you dead
Will leave you dead
Will leave you dead

I am Albino, evil witchfinder
I know she's guilty before I find her
I'll pierce her flesh to find his mark
Torture, my pleasure, true servant of the dark
True servant of the dark

I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, the witchfinder
I, I, I, I...

I think the line is actually "My conviction of sorcery will leave you dead" because, historically, if you confessed to being a witch they didn't kill you, they rehabilitated you. And, in "The Mark of The Devil" no one confessed to being a witch. That was the whole problem in the movie, no one confessing.

You're a fucking idiot.

They didn't fucking rehabilitate anybody, what they fucking did was BURN THE WITCHES.

Unless, of course, you're a motherfucking religious prick. Burning and fucking killing is the only goddamn religion those fuckheads know.

I think this song is about how Witch hunters would accuse just about anyone of being a witch, and go out of their way to prove it. In Salem, Massachusetts, they would look for a weird mark on your skin (Called the "Devil's mark") which meant that you were a witch. If they didn't find the mark they would torture people to get them to confess. In the end, it was all pointless murder and pain, which I think is the point EW is trying to make.

I love this song, like I do with all Electric Wizard songs. But basically, this is an obvious song about "Mark of the Devil" and witch hunting in general. The lyrics;

"Torture, my pleasure, true servant of the dark True servant of the dark"

show that the people who condemned and tortured the so called "Witches" were the real servants of the dark (Satan). I like this lyric passage the most in the song because it's very true, the people who think are servants of the Devil are the real evil ones for killing the them, the innocent women.

I am Albino, evil witchfinder I'll cleanse her sins, for witchcraft I condemn her

  • Albino is a character from an old horror / torture movie: Mark of the Devil - he exploits the gullible Christian society at the time to feed his bank account with gold by hunting down women which are originally labeled as witches mostly by people who want them dead or have no reason for their opinion.

My implements of torture are bloody red Your confession to sorcery will leave you dead

  • Upon confessing, witches ended up being burned alive, yet this is the only exit to their torture.

I am Albino, evil witchfinder I know she's guilty before I find her

  • Albino is conscious of the fact that he is killing just regular women needed dead by people above.

I'll pierce her flesh to find his mark Torture, my pleasure, true servant of the dark

  • The first line here is about finding "the mark of the devil", a place in the woman's body where the devil has blessed her, this spot is found by poking with a sharp object until a spot whereupon touching no pain is felt by the witch. This is where the devil blessed her, and it is regarded as a proof of the witchery.
  • The second line implies that Albino enjoys not only his riches, but the gory means of obtaining them, too.

My interpretation: This is a track derived from hate of gullibility and society bias, perfectly executed.
