Liza Radley Lyrics

Liza Radley, see the girl with long hair
See her creeping 'cross summer lawns at midnight
And all the people in the town where we live say Ã?Â?she's not quite rightÃ?Â? She don't fit in with a small town
They just can't understand why she's doesn't say much
In a darkened room it's for their lives only she cries
Liza Radley, see her jump through loneliness
Liza Radley, take me when you go

And as the people pass by, their heads in the air
On to with their life's, she records a lonely sigh,
But no matter what they say, in her mind she knows,
Their dream of life they won't never find

And all the people in the town where we live say Ã?Â?she's not quite rightÃ?Â? She don't fit in with a small town
They just can't understand she's doesn't say much
In a darkened room it's for their lives only she cries.
Liza Radley, I pledge myself to you alone.
But she kissed my face and said Ã?Â?Love means nothing at allÃ?Â?
She kissed my face and said Ã?Â?Life means nothing at allÃ?Â?

best b side in the world. clever use of Start s bass line. A waste of genius on a mad bint with whom a long term relationship would be a nightmare. Still it s those birds who we all fall for the hardest. love to you Tanya

A girl who ses everyone around her and feels that they're throwing their lives away perhaps, but all in all, a tale of a vulnerable, shy character.

Probably my favourite Jam song. It seems like Liza Radley just personifies the hopeless personality of the disatisfied yet calm youth. She almost creeps away in the night like your childhood, edging futher and further away from you without anyone really understanding what's happening. Such a beautiful song, i could go on forever about what it means to me, but i won't = )

I'm not sure how they got "They just can't understand why she doesn't stay in hospital."

It's definitely "They just can't understand why she's doesn't say much."

I tried to fix it, but it said the correction had to go to the copyright owners for approval, whatever that means.

My Opinion

Okay, weird again. I wrote "why she doesn't say much" here, but it posted as "she's doesn't say much." No wonder the lyrics can be so off on Songmeanings and those crazy random letters and punctuation pop up all over.

I read it as a song about a woman who has accepted how life is, and doesn't have time for the 'normal' folk around her, who's aims in life she has realised are fruitless ambitions. Love, life and acceptance of how things are, are cynically advised to the young listener, who is different to 'the rest'.

I see this one as a woman who wants to live life differently than those around her, but they refuse to let her do so. She's been put into a mental asylum because of this. I'm guessing that the singer is also a patient here, but he has fallen in love with her. The last line seems to hint that despite his attempt to save her, she has opted to go with suicide.
